why do they wait until your are dieing for a wee and then just hiiiiiide at the top of the stairs with their 8 legs? You try to be kind, thinking NO NO, I will NOT kill the spider, but it is so gigantic it will not fit in the pint glass. It moves faster than concorde. It is possibly the size of a small country (give or take).

WHY!!!!!!

The spindley fuckers have a plan

Lunabelly · 31/08/2011 13:08

Oh yes. They have plans alright. So I suggest we get John Goodman and David Arquette onside now.

quirrelquarrel · 31/08/2011 15:08

Came back to read the rest of the thread, and in paranoia (so I thought), scanned the room halfway through, to find a ginormous spider on the wall behind my head Shock

My dh heard me scream from the end of the garden, and had to move all the furniture to find it when it started playing hide and seek.

Spiders may be cute to some, but I just know they're out there, plotting.....

milkmilklemonade · 31/08/2011 16:57

Well you can be sure that spiders getting bigger in England is either down to global warming or Thatcher. My moneys on Thatcher.

lollilou · 31/08/2011 18:54

I hate spiders and despite all my best intentions have passed the fear on to my daughter and son! What I want to know though is it true if you hoover them up they are still alive and can crawl back out down the tube of the hoover? Please please don't let that be true!

Mandy2003 · 31/08/2011 20:07

Sorry but...

...Of course hoovering them up won't kill them, they only get sucked into the bag! But a bagless hoover, I wonder, perhaps there ARE moving parts that will mash them up?

Perhaps you could tie something over the end of the pipe to prevent egress until someone emptied it for you?

I remember posting on a similar thread a couple of months ago. I think people found my observation helpful;

I have often found that spiders come in threes, that is as soon as you have seen one, you can be pretty sure that you are going to see two more that evening.

I have spent hours sitting up in bed wondering where the third bugger is lurking.

As I said hth

Visitor57 · 31/08/2011 20:34

I spent the 35 minutes from 1.10 am to 1.45 am watching one slowly crawl the length of my bedroom ceiling, luckily he was moving away from me but I needed to be sure before I could knock off the light and sleep. I couldn't get the vacuum out because DC was asleep in my bed after a nightmare and she is scared of it (the vac not the spider).

Having spent 7 years sleeping in my attic bedroom with NO spider sightings at all.i read this thread and came to bed last night and one ran across my floor from the bathroom and under my bed,dh got it out anf then 5 mins later another one did exactly the same.Dh got that out whilst i put the plug in and stuffed a flannel in the overflow and frimly shut the bathroom door,dh said he had seen one earlier so that confirms complex's theory.
I slpet very lightly and was googling "spider deterents" at 3 am.
Damn this thread.
