As in a newborn baby (just because) is the ultimate in preciousness?
Or am I just being a meanie?

God, some people are greedy. To "make" your husband buy you a ring? Vile and grasping.

Meanie - presents are lovely.

Presents are lovely, but from a baby that knows nothing about buying presents is just pathetic, imho of course. I am loving the idea of a 'fuck' present for getting a woman pregnant pmsl

I've never heard of this but am not the type to say no to any form of present! However it would definitely be a cold day in hell before this occured to my DH.

I'd never so much as heard of the idea of the 'push present' before I lived in Dubai. In certain expat circles (which seemed to be absolutely obsessed with jewellery and gleefully spotting fake designer bags on the school run), it was considered absolutely compulsory for your husband to present you with an eternity ring after you'd given birth to your first child, or otherwise he was a grasping Scrooge and you were some put-upon rent-a-womb drudge.
