Is it normal for women in their 30s to act like stupid school girls on a night out?

I'm not a massive fan of nightclubs and heavy drinking at the best of times so usually avoid the work's nights outs. I did however agree to one a few months back and was left a little disalusioned by it to be honest and can't decide whether I'm justified in that or simply too old for my time!

Firstly before the night even begun it was determined that the sole purpose of the night was to get as drunk as possible by the end of it. I remember thinking this way when I was 16 and the thought is a little alien to me since I grew up!

Secondly I was shocked to see one of the women going around sticking her camera down everyone's tops to take a pic of their cleaverage (which would later end up on facebook). This is apparantly a tradition and everyone must have a boob picture taken Hmm

Thirdly a few of the women seemed to morph into exotic dancers and started feeling each other up, spreading themselves across a pool table in rather luring poses and pole dancing around a beam for the benefit of the DJ.

And apart from this - the night seemed to turn into a free-for-all with regards to snogging random blokes despite the fact that their husbands would later be picking them up from outside the club!!

I thought maybe it was just an extreme night but I noticed on facebook photos from this weekend and it looks like a repeat of the night I went on. Boob pics, exotic dancing, pouting into the camera like a 13 year old school girl and random snogging.

I won't be going out with them again. Is it me?? am I too old before my time or is this just not normal for 30+ year old women, some of whom are married with kids and professional careers etc.

YANBU, sounds hideous, but tbh they have probably always done this and had a laugh and don't see the need to stop in their 30s. The snogging of random blokes when you are married is a really Hmm though.

Sofabitch · 24/08/2011 18:38

Even worse when it's your 50 something work colleagues doing it. Hmm I'm so glad I saw them drunk. Reminded me very early on to avoid personal friendships with any of them.

catgirl1976 · 24/08/2011 19:26

I do have too much wine on occasions or very occasionally something a little stronger than drink but cannot bear the "slapper" behaivour described by the OP. It is so vulgar. Yuck. Mind you I wouldn't go clubbing (and when I did in my twenties it was to clubs that were about the music - not trying to "pull" by acting like that). Prefer restaurants etc these days and clubbing is waaaay in the past.

Horrible seeing women acting like that in bars etc - dancing / having one too many / being a bit loud isn't too bad, but the "dirty dancing" and the "boob photos" is just so low rent and tacky. It's yuck. Its always women who are old enough to know better and dressed like hot 20 years olds when they can't carry it off anymore. Agree with whoever said the fancy dress hen dos are the worst. Vile.

VeraCanSignChocolateAndWine · 24/08/2011 19:30

muckybogstain do you know my friends? I have a few groups of friends like the ones you have mentioned. Get a bit messy on a night out. :o

smartyparts · 24/08/2011 19:36

I have some great 'mum' friends, but they all love a rowdy girls' night much more than I do.

We invariably end up in some dodgy place full of divorced and desperates and I am always looking for an excuse to go home!

I am possibly getting old - but I like to go to places where we can sit down and chat, plus I like going out with our husbands as I hate being perceived as being on the pull. I can remember about 8 of us going into a bar once (when our average age was about 32) and hearing a young guy say, 'watch out, it's grab a granny night' as we walked by!!

LadyFlumpalot · 24/08/2011 19:37

I'm not 30 yet, am I still allowed to do this? I hope so, because whenever I get a chance to go out I inevitably don my Very Short Dress and my Very High Heels, drink far too much, snog OH's face off, dance like a loon and eat copious amounts of salty fatty junk on the way home. I love it! It only happens once every blue moon though, as I will have either a babysitter staying all night at mine or DS out all night at his grandma's - which is probably why I go a tad overboard when it does.

TrompetteMilitaire · 24/08/2011 19:39

Go on, pictish, name me something more repulsive. Grin

Hey ho. I never went on girls' nights out even when I was 18. After 13 years at a girls' school, I never felt very keen on the idea of hanging out only with girls.

GreenEyesandHam · 24/08/2011 19:40

But they're not 'stupid school girls' they are adult women who can wear what they like, spend their own money how they want to and enjoy themselves as they see fit. If it's legal and doesn't affect you, why would you care? Confused

It doesn't appeal to me, I haven't the energy tbh, I like a nice g&t and a sit down, but more power to their elbow I say

catgirl1976 · 24/08/2011 19:41

ladyf - you may carry on. You are snogging your OHs face off which is fine. It is the poorly exectuted re-enacting of Rhianna moves on a sticky pool table by a drunk and overweight woman with the grace and dance skills of a pregnant rhino in the attempt to attract the dubious attentions of any / all fellow revellers that is hereby banned.

(I have been on MN long enough to now fully believe not only do I get to judge everyone else but my judgements must now be enacted as law :) I like it.)

TrompetteMilitaire · 24/08/2011 19:41

Indeed they're not stupid school girls. They're adult women who need a slap and someone to tell them to grow up and stop acting like saddo students.

LadyFlumpalot · 24/08/2011 19:42

To follow on from my last though - I don't go on girls nights. I go on friends nights out which is all my friends and their respective partners/husbands/wives - who I tend to be friends with anyway! Don't think I like the idea of just girls...

GreenEyesandHam · 24/08/2011 19:45

Trompette but why?

LadyFlumpalot · 24/08/2011 19:46

Catgirl - I do know what you mean. I live in a very out of the way place and the local (only) nightclub caters to all of the nearby villages and towns. I have seen some sights! Catsuits coupled with white patent knee highs with grubby tassels, bikini tops, fellatio on the dancefloor...

catgirl1976 · 24/08/2011 19:47

fellatio on the dance floor Shock wow.......thats nasty :)

AnyFucker · 24/08/2011 19:50

fellatio on the dancefloor is that the latest no. 1 ?

AnyFucker · 24/08/2011 19:50

it sounds like Rihanna's latest hit

CaptainKirksNipples · 24/08/2011 19:51

Getting drunk, flirting and pouty pics are fine. Snogging and flashing is ott. Been on a few nights out myself where 'Team Naked' made an appearance. Not me... DP! Some folk just can't handle their drink!

GreenEyesandHam · 24/08/2011 19:53

AF I think your thinking of 'BJ in the Gents Bogs' eminem featuring Rihanna (extended version)

AnyFucker · 24/08/2011 19:54

you could be right, greeny Smile

LadyFlumpalot · 24/08/2011 19:54

It does sound a little like a song title, doesn't it!

I will tell you the worst thing I ever saw down there...

A group of us at the bar, we turn round after getting our drinks and there is a couple smooching behind us. The girl with her back to us. She is wearing a very very small dress, no knickers. The skirt was round her waist and the lads fingers were exploring the exit...if you know what I mean? We all just were like Shock!

The lad spotted us and smoothed the skirt back down, the lass turned round and shrugged at us and then wandered off - without the lad!

theinet · 24/08/2011 19:55

lol laughing out loud at "fellatio on the dancefloor"

does it get any lower rent?!!!!!

AnyFucker · 24/08/2011 19:56

oh dear, I hope he washed his hands before indulging in the bar peanuts

theinet · 24/08/2011 19:56

ok - fingering at the bar is worse.....

LadyFlumpalot · 24/08/2011 19:57

Oh cripes, I am so outing my location with this...never mind...

Any North Dorset Mumsnetters around? Anyone been to good ole' Legends lately?

AnyFucker · 24/08/2011 19:57
