To want to wake the baby up and ask him where my mobile phone is?

I know I am really as he is only 17 months and will have no idea what I am on about and you NEVER wake a sleeping toddler at night but WHERE THE FUCK DID HE PUT IT?
Yes, we have tried ringing it, but it is not connecting and I'm sure it was on and charged, so he has put it somewhere that blocks the signal.
AAARRRGGGHHH!

Did you definitely have it in the house at 8am? Did you definitely not have it in the house at 10 am?

RustyBear · 19/08/2011 22:50

Any coats, jackets or anything else with pockets within his reach?

In the folded hood of the buggy?

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 19/08/2011 22:50

Can he reach the microwave?

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2011 22:52

Does he have any wellies? Is it in there?

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2011 22:52

Newspaper folded on table, hiding the phone?

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2011 22:52

This boy is a scamp!

lollystix · 19/08/2011 22:53

In shoes? Ds2 did this when I popped into a colleagues house for 5 minutes. He took her car keys off a shelf and she was stuck for a week and was considering getting a new one till she checked all her shoes. I was so Blush

hiccymapops · 19/08/2011 22:54

Radiators, under sofas and toy drawers in this house. I'm daft enough to usually have my phone on silent too, as it always rings when I've just got dd to sleep, so when ds2 hides it, it takes forever to find. I once lost it for 3 days. He'd unzipped a sofa cushion and tucked it in there!

BoattoBolivia · 19/08/2011 23:06

Ok, you guys are scaring me now! Unzipping cushions?! I have to stop looking or I'll be at it all night. Will check all radiators, coat pockets and shoes in the morning.
He definitely had it while I was making sandwiches this morning as I remember thinking I must take it off him, but it was keeping him occupied and out from under my feet at the time! I couldn't find it when we were leaving at 10, so I went out without it. Had a lovely day at London Zoo, but am getting cross now. Will put DD on the case in the morning.
Will let you all know if it turns up.

Were you using a tub of butter or margarine? Could it be in there?

Or inside the wrapper of the loaf of bread?

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2011 23:32

In the bread bin?

BimboNo5 · 19/08/2011 23:44

DD used to accumulate things that weren't hers under our settee!

NorksAreMessy · 19/08/2011 23:56

Absolutely brilliant thread and perfect level of suspense!

My twopenn'th...in bed, under a pillow

StealthPolarBear · 20/08/2011 00:04

do you have any toys that have compartments? Ds once hid my keys in the "boot" of his ride on car.

When he is awake do you have another you can show him (just don't whatever you do give him it and turn your back :o). DS did once tell us where he had hidden a key outside and he can't have been much older. Shame we didn't believe him and spent hours looking in the grass, whereas if we'd judt followed where he pointed we'd have found it Hmm

MumblingRagDoll · 20/08/2011 00:08

I thought the thread title was going to be "AIBU to wake the baby up and ask....him how it feels?"

Grin
Dawnybabe · 20/08/2011 00:33

I once found a missing small shoe tucked in the oven glove that was hanging on my oven door.

Are you sure you didn't lose it the night before?

Please tell us when you find it!

nakedandangry · 20/08/2011 00:40

Dd posts things under the rug? Obviously car keys etc generally found in her toy basket... Is there a shelf he goes to. P'raps amonst the Cds/books?

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 20/08/2011 01:03

Any chance he could have thrown it out a window? Probably not as he wouldn't be able to reach but if it's not ringing anymore...

Behind the TV, somewhere on his book shelf. Toy boxes. Plant pots.

Andrewofgg · 20/08/2011 06:34

Do please let us know where it was!

BoattoBolivia · 20/08/2011 08:29

Right, ds and I are up, I have given him an old phone that is quite similar to my missing one andvi am following him around to see what he does with it. I have checked the apron pockets, don't have rugs, and am wandering with all your ingenious ideas in mind. Don't worry, I will report if I am ever successful.
Mumbling, your idea was hilarious, but I have NEVER been anywhere near trying that, he was always much too bad a sleeper to ever contemplate waking him up!

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 20/08/2011 09:37

Have you tried "in" toys? (DS hides mine in his garage or easel)

MilkNoSugarPlease · 20/08/2011 10:01

In the basket/seat of the buggy?

ImperialBlether · 20/08/2011 10:05

I love these implications that the OP's baby is massively strong for his age and full of cunning and guile.

squeezemebakingpowder · 20/08/2011 10:15

Laundry basket? I found the remote control in there once!

Just lost car keys this morning after ds was playing with them, when I asked him (17mths), he just looked at me innocently and carried on playing! Found them down the arm of settee! But I'm sure you've thought of that one!
