Marks and Bastard Spencer have RUINED ds2's birthday

Greensleeves · 18/08/2011 15:24

ds2's birthday tomorrow, he's 7

it will be the first birthday dh has ever been away, so I have busted a gut to make it special for him

I ordered something off M&S online which he really, really wants and opted for the extra charge to have it delivered today, in time to be wrapped etc

They said the payment wouldn't go through, there was a problem with the card etc, I put it through over and over again

eventually dh phoned them, from Brazil, and gave all the details over the phone and double-checked with the woman that it had gone through and would still be delivered today, 18th August

so I rang up customer services today to ask if they had an approximate time as I have to take ds1 out to a party later

they said it hadn't gone through and was marked as not paid for

eventually after more schenanigans it turned out that it was because our visa debit card is a co-op bank card - they accept visa debit cards but not visa electron (which ours isn't) - apparently, this woman laughingly told me, the first four digits of the co-op cards are the same as electron cards, so they don't work! nobody asked dh whether it was a co-op card ffs

so the present isn't paid for and won't be arriving after all

I know it sounds trivial but I am SO upset, it has been a tough two weeks without dh here anyway and I really thought I had done a good job of making his birthday lovely Sad

BASTARDS

I rang Specsavers on Tuesday to order extra lenses as I was running out. I should have been more organised and rang earlier but I wasn't. I rang today to find out if they had come in and found out they hadn't even been ordered. Thank Christ I just had a raging tantrum in my kitchen after putting the phone down instead of posting on here.

notbothered · 18/08/2011 16:29

i would try to make it special party/day out or whatever. sort out present and would tell my child that it would have very special bdays because they will be 2 days long. on the 2nd day I would collect the present with my DC...sorted

GreatNorksOfFire · 18/08/2011 16:29

Hope you have calmed down now Greeny.

I am sure you will do everything you can to make your son's birthday a special one. But don't make it about M&S's fuck up. Make it about your son having a good time.

I have to say though that if I was as pissed off as you were at M&S I would not be giving them any further custom and would be finding my child a present from somewhere else.

ShirleyKnot · 18/08/2011 16:30

CLANG

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 18/08/2011 16:31

I gave up on M&S after they screwed up Christmas present delivery. There should be a club.

LtEveDallas · 18/08/2011 16:32

Greensleeves, this is totally shite and yes, M&S really have fucked your DS over. Is there really nothing someone on here can do to help? You could PM someone what the gift is if you dont want the pathetic nethunners to know (and really, they are pathetic, dont worry about them, they'll feck off soon enough). I dont know where you are but I'm Oxfordshire if I can help at all.

M&S: Your Customer Service is a joke and a disgrace.

Nethuns: Off you fuck.

(I also liked the "you're either lying, deluded or Amish")

RoundOrangeHead · 18/08/2011 16:32

best thread title EVER

Weren't you responsible for Cunting Sainsbury's thread fame also? I may have you mixed up with someone else.

Ormirian · 18/08/2011 16:32

I will just add my M&S cock-up story here if I may....

well I would if I had one. Too poor for M&S. I have a Tesco one if you like?

KATC2010 · 18/08/2011 16:32

Hey Purple read the post I put. I said I am not sure. Not that she MUST be making it up. She is clearly upset, and I wondered why she didn't take any of the help on offer.

ShirleyKnot · 18/08/2011 16:34

Stop fighting all of you weirdos.

Purpleprickles · 18/08/2011 16:35

Notbothered- I would take a similar approach but wouldn't you be at all upset?

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 18/08/2011 16:35

I particularly liked, 'why birthdays can't be nice without the present? thats not making the day special.'

Yes son, it's your birthday, but you won't be having presents. We're going to spend the day whittling.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/08/2011 16:36

Read it. Wow...I feel like I've had a good slapping, in a non kinky sort of way.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 18/08/2011 16:36

Weirdos? From the woman who just randomly CLANGED Grin

ShirleyKnot · 18/08/2011 16:37

yy me too EvenLess. "I know you wanted a DSi for your birthday, darling, but instead I have drawn this picture of you! Let's make this day special now by...no, no, don't cry!"

SuePurblybilt · 18/08/2011 16:37

Not whittling! That would result in something useful (smaller wood Grin). Let's all spend birthdays thinking of those less fortunate and doing something shit. That'd remind us of the true meaning of birthdays Hmm.

ShirleyKnot · 18/08/2011 16:38
Grin
Purpleprickles · 18/08/2011 16:38

Katc apologies for misquoting, maybe Greensleeves didn't like to ask virtual friends to do her shopping. I assumed this is why she didn't accept as I also wouldn't have felt that I could say 'right everyone in the London area rush out to your M&S and find xxxx". I didn't assume or suggest or even think that she made it up. That just didn't enter my mind so wondered why it entered yours?

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 18/08/2011 16:38

Whittling for those less fortunate than ourselves?

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 18/08/2011 16:39

LOL at 'you are either lying, deluded or Amish'. I'm sure it's very un-pc but it made me chuckleGrin

Hope you get his pressie Greeny, I would be mighty peed off too.

tethersend · 18/08/2011 16:39

This isn't just a fuck up.

This is an M&S fuck up, sensually penetrating the rectum of this special day.

ThePosieParker · 18/08/2011 16:39

lockets any good

notbothered · 18/08/2011 16:39

oh wow....1000's online shops you can always buy something else.its up to you what makes it special. present is the easy option. yes I would be upset, but not angry/aggressive like op!

Purpleprickles · 18/08/2011 16:40

Grin birthday whittling. Have been thinking of ideas for ds party, think I've found it. Just off to collect some wood Grin

ThePosieParker · 18/08/2011 16:40
