Marks and Bastard Spencer have RUINED ds2's birthday

ds2's birthday tomorrow, he's 7

it will be the first birthday dh has ever been away, so I have busted a gut to make it special for him

I ordered something off M&S online which he really, really wants and opted for the extra charge to have it delivered today, in time to be wrapped etc

They said the payment wouldn't go through, there was a problem with the card etc, I put it through over and over again

eventually dh phoned them, from Brazil, and gave all the details over the phone and double-checked with the woman that it had gone through and would still be delivered today, 18th August

so I rang up customer services today to ask if they had an approximate time as I have to take ds1 out to a party later

they said it hadn't gone through and was marked as not paid for

eventually after more schenanigans it turned out that it was because our visa debit card is a co-op bank card - they accept visa debit cards but not visa electron (which ours isn't) - apparently, this woman laughingly told me, the first four digits of the co-op cards are the same as electron cards, so they don't work! nobody asked dh whether it was a co-op card ffs

so the present isn't paid for and won't be arriving after all

I know it sounds trivial but I am SO upset, it has been a tough two weeks without dh here anyway and I really thought I had done a good job of making his birthday lovely Sad

BASTARDS

I assumed the ranting and swearing was on here so she didn't have to do it in front of her 7 year old.

notbothered · 18/08/2011 17:15

once again...she did not pay!! her card got refused

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 18/08/2011 17:15

But sending a message like that to the baby's mother through her friend is despicable

Tanith, I don't think she was actually suggesting that the message be passed on.

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/08/2011 17:15

Its not trivial to Greeny though or I imagine to her 7 year old son.

God I get pissed off when stuff I want for myself doesn't arrive on time - you pay extra for this and its not unreasonable to expect the service you pay for.

Tortington · 18/08/2011 17:16

another teapot

LineRunner · 18/08/2011 17:17

Her husband paid. He had to ring all the way from the Copa Cabana.

prefer the first one Custardo - it looked very vaguely phallic....

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/08/2011 17:17

Yes her card got refused but they didn't tell her that!!!

Purpleprickles · 18/08/2011 17:17

It's alright I've checked, definition of 'Princess' in the Collins dictionary is "being annoyed that your son will not have the present he wanted for his birthday due to a shop cock up" Hmm

MightyQuim · 18/08/2011 17:17

It is being Princessy to stamp your feet and wail that 'everythings ruuuuuined' though.
If you don't want people to put your minor problems into perspective then don't act like the world has ended because Shock you bought something over the internet and they fucked it up.

Greensleeves · 18/08/2011 17:17

coppertop · 18/08/2011 17:17

I must order one of those teapots. Do you take co-op cards?

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 18/08/2011 17:18

The hottest spot north of Havana?

yeah, but if you so angry about it would you try to buy something else or say to your child oh m&s fucked you birthday...

Er, she has gone out to buy something, and came onto here to rant. Confused

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/08/2011 17:18

Seriously though m&s online is in the dark ages. Their product photos are crap, the site is slow and the delivery takes forever. Compare and contrast with john lewis where you get free delivery and its quick.

roomonthebroom · 18/08/2011 17:18

Well said honeymom. I should have checked to see if she was a regular, they can say anything they want and it's reasonable. which is why I haven't posted much on here recently, and won't be again for a while.

Tortington · 18/08/2011 17:18

post modern twist

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 18/08/2011 17:19

It's time to take back AIBU

Tortington · 18/08/2011 17:19

i don't take visa electron coppertop

MorelliOrRanger · 18/08/2011 17:19

You ordered it a few days ago - why leave it so late? His birthday is the same day every year. I would have ordered it weeks ago.

I'm sure if you ordered it now won't matter if its a few days late anyway.

Chill. Its not just about presents you know.

coppertop · 18/08/2011 17:20

Not even on non-Amish days? :(

Pagwatch · 18/08/2011 17:20

I suspect that greensleeves child will handle it better than she will. Because she feels upset, cross, frustrated and indignant. And because when we feel guilty about our dc, however irrationally, we feel upset.

Greenie is massively fucked off. I would be too.
I am not sure she needs to be told about how children process disappointment. I suspect if she could just kick someone from M&S in the bollocks she would feel way better.
And then the baby Jesus wouldn't have to cry.

Tortington · 18/08/2011 17:20

oooh i feel a riot coming on narky

usualsuspect · 18/08/2011 17:21

when you are 7 ..its all about the presents
