To be just a bit unhappy that we're lurching towards Autumn?

My least favourite time of the year is October/November/December.

I'm going to Greece on Saturday for a week and to Holland for 4 days next month. However it's getting very close to when the clocks go back and I can already see the nights drawing in.

Roll on next March/April: I hate, hate, hate Autumn and Winter.

My baby is due in November so I'm looking forward to the weather cooling down. This heat is killing me!

Those would be the emmetts that keep the county going, would they? That word really pisses me off.

Have googled emmetts and I'm still none the wiser!

Isn't emmets just a regional Cornish word for tourists?
And I imagine local people who don't work in the tourist industry are quite happy to have their towns to themselves again. I would imagine Cornwall gets very overcrowded in the summer.

Yes you are all correct.

It's actually Cornish for ant but is also our nickname for masses of tourists who swarm like ants during the holiday season. The word is also sometimes used to describe English people who retire here or buy cottages (and then leave them empty for 9 months of the year).

No offence intended and I do appreciate we need tourists because Cornwall is one of the most economically deprived areas of the UK however as the theme of this thread is Autumn I mentioned the migration of emmetts as one of the things that I love about the end of summer.

YANBU - July was a wash out, August has been miserable. It feels like autumn is about to arrive.
