To be just a bit unhappy that we're lurching towards Autumn?

My least favourite time of the year is October/November/December.

I'm going to Greece on Saturday for a week and to Holland for 4 days next month. However it's getting very close to when the clocks go back and I can already see the nights drawing in.

Roll on next March/April: I hate, hate, hate Autumn and Winter.

YABU - I just love autumn and winter.

The crisp mornings, the spider webs covered in the mornings dew, fresh schoolbooks and the new shoe smell.

Then bonfire night, hot chocolate and open fires, stews and sausage casseroles, the anticipation of Christmas season and goodwill to all.

Yum and Yay!

NorfolkNChance · 15/08/2011 08:19

Same as Nooby (except for the baby bit!)

FatStanley · 15/08/2011 08:28

HelenaGrace said it perfectly 10/10 Smile

sausagesandmarmelade · 15/08/2011 08:29

Oh I dunno....I kinda like the autumn when the leaves change colour...and the nights draw in...and you get that cosy feel indoors when outside it's getting chillier.

Summer's been good but Autumn is a close contender for my favourite season.

Only thing I don't like is the increase in spiders....hate them!

DoingTheBestICan · 15/08/2011 08:34

I love Autumn, the crisp air,the smell of bonfires & seeing all the colours on the trees.

I love wrapping up & going for a long walk, then getting home & making hot chocolate.

Halloween,bonfire night,Christmas planning,cosy knits,drawing the curtains,lighting the fire & candles & settling in for the night.

Whats not to love?

FreudianSlipper · 15/08/2011 08:37

i am hoping we have an indian summer, it was still warmish in october last year and the year before i remember having a picnic in the park and we were wearing tshirts it was the 31st october, the weather completely changed the next day

i like autumn but not winter, though i do love very cold sunny days when the air is really crisp

MovesLikeJagger · 15/08/2011 08:38

I LOVE Autumn! Not so keen on Winter but I prefer it to Summer, I hate being all hot and bothered.

newpup · 15/08/2011 08:38

I love Autumn! The colours of the leaves, all that gold, red and brown. Chill in the air and then crisp cold mornings. My perfect day would be cold and frosty but with blue sky and the winter sun. I love, hats, gloves, scarves and big warm coats. I love cozy jumpers and warm blankets and roaring fires! Tramping across frozen fields in my wellies, lab by my side.

I love that going back to school feeling at the end of Summer. When you start to feel a change in the air. I love September, October, November and December. I find January to April the worst time, grey, dull, flat colourless sky. Christmas gone and Spring a long way off.

Autumn is my absolute favourite season. I smiled to myself walking the dog on Friday as the leaves have started to turn already and fields around my house are being ploughed. Smile

sausagesandmarmelade · 15/08/2011 08:38

Agree re winter....it's ok when there's lots of snow...but when it's just dark, dreary and wet it can be quite depressing.

Autumn is quite another matter!

PuppyMonkey · 15/08/2011 08:42

I love autumn too - time to get your boots out again way hay. And it's my birthday in October. I like winter too.... Christmastime, mistletoe and wineGrin

echt · 15/08/2011 08:49

It's all in reverse here, with the days drawing out; an Aussie dawn chorus ( as much screechy as melodious); and DH and I running round like loons getting our Australian garden sorted before the heat of the summer - or if it's like last year, the tepid.:0

mummytotwoboys · 15/08/2011 08:52

YABU I love winter!, on the other hand YANBU as it means my baby will be going off to school (hes 4!) which makes be very sad :(

LemonSlice · 15/08/2011 09:02

YABU - Autumn is the BEST time of year! I was excited to feel a chill in the air this morning as it reminded me Autumn is on its way. I love the run up to Christmas and cold icy weather too. I do find january to March quite a low time of year for me (too many short grey days for my liking)....but that makes Spring seem even sweeter!

porcamiseria · 15/08/2011 09:04

me too

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 15/08/2011 09:08

This has been the perfect summer! No sweating, no sunburn, still able to wear flubber-covering clothes Smile.

Autumn/winter are fab. I looked at my massive snuggly knitted jumpers yesterday with longing. Not long to go now....

troisgarcons · 15/08/2011 09:09

I adore autumn - its the perfect time of year - warm sun, the trees turn, cascading in colour, the early morning mists across the lake. So very pretty.

pommedechocolat · 15/08/2011 09:39

Autumn means I have to fork out for my car and winter means I have to fork out ridiculous a bouts for gas and elec.
I liked it when I was younger. Now it is just too expensive.

pointydog · 15/08/2011 09:46

You need to change your mindset, sooty. Not much point dreading five months of the year.

Sewmuchtodo · 15/08/2011 11:04

I am looking forward to the winter. No more maternity clothes, new baby to walk with in the pram and knitwear......I love knitwear!

Andrewofgg · 15/08/2011 11:51

The worst moment in the year is the Monday after the clocks go back when everybody suddenly has to go home in the dark and it's still a long time to Christmas. I have for eyars made it my business to organise a team outing that nght, usually to a local curry hourse (where else?), and giving lots of notice so that the part-timers have a chance to reorganise for that week and some of them do. I recommend the idea.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 15/08/2011 11:59

YABU, I am absolutely delighted and am crossing off the horrible summer days until we get there. I love autumn and winter, love dark evenings, smoky frosty air, Halloween, bonfire night, walking through leaves, coats and scarves.

Cannot bear heat, sweat, bright sunlight, mugginess, half naked people, sunlight at 3am and 11pm. I'm sure I have summer SAD. I start getting really low around the middle of March.

LadyBeagleEyes · 15/08/2011 12:02

In a perfect world our seasons would be seasons.
So three months of sunshine in summer, nice crispy autums days, snowy winters and lovely springs.
In reality it all gets muddled up, we've had practically no summer and are going straight into autumn which is just as likely to be as cold, wet and miserable as the rest of the year.
And huge electricity bills and dark mornings.
Though I do like the dark evenings if I don't have to go out, snuggled up on the sofa while it blows a hoolie outside.

lubeybooby · 15/08/2011 12:04

YABU I love love love Autumn, very pretty when the leaves all change, and I adore winter. Big jumpers and my roaring fire... can't wait! I never have liked summer much (at least not the UK's daft attempt at 'summer' anyway)

ExitPursuedByATroll · 15/08/2011 12:07

I love all the seasons - but I agree there is that awful moment of melancholy when you realise that summer is past its sell by date.

I too love the first donning of a big sweater, and the first night that the horses come in and stay in.

Pendeen · 15/08/2011 12:19

Another vote for Autumn here.

The air is cooler and fresher, the beautiful Cornish light becomes softe - colours change down a gear into warmer hues of golds and yellows. Sea mists rise (I love the cosy feeling of being alone in a good mist) and I can walk on the beach with just the seagulls for company.

But best of all; the emmetts go home> :) Everywhere is suddenly quiet again and we get back our lanes and villages, shops and coast paths.
