To wish I'd had the bottle to ask woman at park what her 3rd dc was called?

one of these small things that will bug me all night :)

She had three beautiful boys (I was there with my 3 beautiful girls ;)) and I heard her calling two of the sons by names I had picked out when pregnant, now I really want to know if the 3rd name would have been as lovely or totally spoiled my opinion of how fab she was at picking boys names!

If you stay in bath and know any siblings called Oscar and Jacob can you please let me know what the other brother is called? Grin

Oh ignore them Mrsgilbert, name your DS what you like!

(p.s. I have one of those, but i don't know ANY other children near us with any of those names, and we know a lot of kids. Most of them seem to be called Harry/William/Archie/Charlie/Jack/Henry/Edward anyway)

dementedma · 12/08/2011 13:28

I know brothers called Jason and Isaac, and everyone calls the first boy Jacob by mistake as it seems to fit better.

AlpiniAddict · 12/08/2011 13:33

Ooh I love discussing baby names (sad I know!)
My 4 DC are Jay Alexander,William Oliver,Ava Jean and Violet May :)
I think the 3rd brother was Samuel or Lucas

4madboys · 12/08/2011 13:39

well i have an Oscar, he is no2 out of 4 boys, the others are Theo(dore) Dylan and Rudi :)

5Foot5 · 12/08/2011 13:56

Apparently if I had been a boy my Mum favoured the name Adam but my Dad was holding out for Duncan Edward in memory of the late MUFC player!

Neither of them had considered any girls names since they already had 2 DDs therefore they were convinced that I would be a boy, hence my name was suggested by the midwife.

GattoRosso · 12/08/2011 18:43

If I had been a boy, I would have been Lawrence. Never been too pleased with that, but then again, Lawrence Fox is kind of hot Wink

takethisonehereforastart · 12/08/2011 21:38

I love it when you find siblings with combination names or cluster names, not really sure what else to describe them as.

I went to school with a boy called Adam whose elder brothers were called Christopher and Stephen.

Then I dated a man (Peter) whose three brothers were called Adam, Christopher and Stephen.

Now my DH has two brothers and the three of them together are Adam, Christopher and Stephen (not saying which one is my DH).

But there must be something about those names that just "go" together, other than that they are traditional names that were popular in the 70's/80's.

It seems like too big a coincidence to me that I know three families who have used all those names together for their sons.

I'd guess that Oscar and Jacob have a sibling named Thomas, Ollie or Max.

And my shadow name, had I been a boy, would have been Rogan. Rogan with possibly Josh as a middle name, because my 1970's mother had heard it well before she realised it was the name of a bloody curry. My brother, had he been a girl, would have been Leona, which for some reason my mother decided against saving for me. I have a feminine version of my grandfathers name (the same grandfather I decided to name LO after).

Mrsgilbertgrape · 12/08/2011 22:07

I'm not pregnant jareth! I'm sad I wont get to use any of the names I love because I'm not really planning dc4, if I do ever have a ds I will definitely be using one of the names on my list.

takethis-I always find it weird that every Sarah I know has the middle name Jayne, it's like a bogof offer, buy one name get the other thrown in for free.

Aww I saw someone knocking Kai earlier on. I loved that name if I had had a DS. When I was a young teenager I had a friend from Norwegian family and his dad and grandad were Kai. I had never heard it at the time, and I love short strong names.

Then along comes Mr Potato HeadWayne Rooney and spoils it forever.

musicposy · 12/08/2011 22:42

takethis our next door neighbours have a grown up Adam and a Christopher (but only two boys). Obviously goes together.

mrsgilbert every other Sarah in my class except me (I was one of 6 in the class) had Jane/ Jayne as a middle name. My mum said it was because there was a single in the charts about Sarah Jayne at the time. There were so many Sarahs it was nice to buck the trend just a little!

DD1 has a really common name, even though I swore pre-children l would not do this! DD2 has something much more unusual. I was, and remain, rather pleased about her name, but she moans all the time that DD1 can buy all those personalised gifts and she can't! You can't win Hmm

I like Oscar and Jacob. They go well together. Shame you didn't ask the third, OP!

I have a Jacob and a Gabriel, but not keen on Oscar or Leo, we went for Jacob because it was the only one both agreed on. Fwiw I liked

Nathaniel
Alexander
Elijah
George
Felix

I am predictable, but you like what you like.

Nihilisticbunny · 12/08/2011 23:09

I can't picture anyone but that kid from that annoying cbeebies programme when I think of Kai.

rhondajean · 12/08/2011 23:20

I dont know the cbeebies programme with a Kai in it.

The name is ruined forever anyway Sad

Andrewofgg · 13/08/2011 10:51

takethisone do you realise that your shadow-male self would have been called Ghosht at school and quite possibly at work too? :o

Mrsgilbertgrape · 13/08/2011 10:55

music two of my dd's have uncommon names that you can't find on any tourist tat Grin the 3rd dd moans though because you can find her name and she wants to be like her sisters. I can't win!

There's a family near me (nowhere near Bath, I'm afraid) with 3 boys - Oscar is the eldest, then Toby, then Jacob. I think they go well together.

I have 4 DDs, so never got to name a DS. I always fancied Jacob or Joshua though as boys names.

CheerfulYank · 13/08/2011 18:19

I'm a Megan and my brother is Matthew, and I've met countless other Megan/Matt sibling combinations. Weird!

Papyrus · 13/08/2011 20:51

I'm in Bath and know a family with three boys Oscar, Tom and Jacob.

MirandaGoshawk · 14/08/2011 22:01

I am very luck to have a 'normal' name. In fact it's just been mentioned! My mother was also considering Miriam Hmm and Hepzibah Shock!

If I'd been a boy I'd have been James. Not too bad.

Mrsgilbertgrape · 14/08/2011 23:27

I was watching for her at the park today but she never appeared so it looks like I will never know!

PebblesAndWine · 14/08/2011 23:30

But we must know! Spend every spare minute there please so you can find out.... Grin

marriedinwhite · 14/08/2011 23:44

My shadow name was Zachary. My girl's name isn't much better. Mine have sensible, easy to spell classic names. And we have met many children with one of each who are called the same - they must go together like tea and biscuits.

takethisonehereforastart · 22/08/2011 19:45

Andrewofgg - then my shadow male self would still have had a better nickname than my actual female self had to put up with at school (a very wobbly attempt at rhyming my name with "bogey" because nothing else comes close to rhyming with it, followed by a slightly less original "ginger pubes" as we hit our teenage years).

Andrewofgg · 22/08/2011 19:48

takethisone My profound sympathy. You got shafted!

But how did they know?
