To wish I'd had the bottle to ask woman at park what her 3rd dc was called?

one of these small things that will bug me all night :)

She had three beautiful boys (I was there with my 3 beautiful girls ;)) and I heard her calling two of the sons by names I had picked out when pregnant, now I really want to know if the 3rd name would have been as lovely or totally spoiled my opinion of how fab she was at picking boys names!

If you stay in bath and know any siblings called Oscar and Jacob can you please let me know what the other brother is called? Grin

They did have long hair but it was not curly, kind of side fringe and one length to bottom of neck.

I hope the mum does not see this actually, she might get a restraining order out on me! I promise I don't always go around obsessing over other peoples children.

I wonder if the fact her dc were the same age roughly as mine but the diffrent sex made me notice them, like seeing myself in some opposite world (lack of sleep talking now)

I'm with you, MrsGilbert. Love those names... DD (who has a name often derided on here but much praised in RL) would have been Felix. That was the third name Grin

JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/08/2011 08:20

My bet is for Isaac.

and Hmm to everybody saying names like Jacob and Oscar are predictable.

spudulika · 12/08/2011 08:51

Bloody hell.

Mumsnet is so posh.

Round my way the popular names are Rio, Harvey and Tyler.

Oh, and Jacob and Oscar ARE predictable I'm afraid. Just like Rio, Harvey and Tyler. Wink

If I had another child I'd be tempted to call him Derek or Ian, just to swim against the tide. And if it was a girl call her Wendy, Alison or Jane.

Mrsgilbertgrape · 12/08/2011 09:21

A girl I know has two very young children called Annie and Iain, I think it's lovely :)

OP posts:
dementedma · 12/08/2011 09:28

Ian/Iain seems to be making a bit of a comeback, although we live in Scotland where perhaps it's more popular.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/08/2011 09:31

Well, I disagree and I think it's rude.

msbuggywinkle · 12/08/2011 09:41

This is the kind of thing that bugs me too Mrsgilbert.

My DDs would have been Elliot and Gabriel, DD3 (not born yet) would have been Franklin. We're rubbish at boys names, I don't love any of them as much as I love the DDs' names!

superjobee · 12/08/2011 09:50

we wanted to call DS jacob after his grandad but its just too popular and pretentious round our way :(

bet the other boy was called lucas that is supposedly 'middle class' nowadays

DaphneDuMorrisons · 12/08/2011 09:53

I knew a Jacob and Isaac once - really liked that combo.

MrsDaffodill · 12/08/2011 10:02

Every Jacob I know seems to have a brother called Isaac.

MrsDaffodill · 12/08/2011 10:04

My shadow name was Randolf.

superjobee · 12/08/2011 10:10

i would've been jason Grin

spookshowangel · 12/08/2011 10:23

sorry mrsgilbert i thought you were saying they were drivel ad it looks like someone thought i was saying they were drivel it looks like there was a lot of cross driviling.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/08/2011 10:44
Blush
BelleDameSansMerci · 12/08/2011 11:29

I would have been Richard... 60s for me!

SuburbanDream · 12/08/2011 11:41

No, you are all wrong, it would have been Harry Smile

I would have been Gary BTW (child of the 70s!!)

Mrsgilbertgrape · 12/08/2011 11:47

I will need to ask my mum what I would have been if I was born male but considering my sister was nameless for a month and then they came up with Clare I don't think it would have been adventures.

monstermissy · 12/08/2011 11:52

my 15yo is a Jacob there are a few around i think but most of them are younger. I love it. Love that people think it is predictable drivel, i just named my boys on what i liked not on how to be original or go against social norms blah blah blah!

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 12/08/2011 12:24

Yank My dd was going to be Samuel if she wasn't a dd Smile

I didn't have a shadow name. My mum called me [girl's name] from the moment she knew she was pg. My grandmother was convinced I was a boy (no granddaughters up until me) and that I would be gay - charming lady she was Hmm

going · 12/08/2011 12:29

I reckon it was Lucas.

PebblesAndWine · 12/08/2011 12:34

Well my ds2 is Jacob. He was very nearly an Oscar. Therefore the third child was one of the following:
Ben (ds1) or
Leo

PebblesAndWine · 12/08/2011 12:35

Oops I forgot Luca.....

PebblesAndWine · 12/08/2011 12:36

I was nearly a Joanna, never quite forgiven my Mum for not calling me that, I would have been such a cool Jo....

If I was male I would have been Michael....

Mrsgilbertgrape · 12/08/2011 12:53

This thread has made me quite sad that I won't get to name a ds, I love

Noah
Lucas
Leo
Isaac
Jabob
Oscar
Oliver
