So, had a row with dbs bil the other day over his FB status. He was saying that the rioters and looters were immigrants and shoud fuck off back to their own country. I told him they weren't, the majority were english to which he replied that they were all "pakis and rag heads", now this isn't the first time and I usually just ignore him because he doesn't normally appear on my feed. But I called him a racist cunt his replies were just lovely including I should be burnt alive, but I digress.

His daft wife got involved and hurled a load of abuse at me and the lovely mners who backed me up when she followed me onto my own page. I tried yesterday to draw a line under it for db and sil's sake, but she has been abusive again, hey ho. But when I said "look, I'm not arguing with some 20yr old little girl and her racist husband" she was still insistent that he's not racist.

How is someone who moans about p@kis and n*ggers not racist? How is it not racist to say that all muslims or "r@g heads" should go back to their own country? Or that the only english people are white and can trace their famillies back in england over a hundred years?

Wtf is wrong with some people?

lissie, Isnt it blindingly obvious that people hold views because they believe in them and they dont think there is anything wrong with them

your whole point is incoherent. try again

CupcakesandTwunting · 11/08/2011 10:00

Do you know that they nick our jobs and our dole? They do, you know?

And they nick our women.

OldMacEIEIO · 11/08/2011 10:01

well victor, its so palpably untrue that a poster above has an anecdote about it

VictorGollancz · 11/08/2011 10:01

Ah, well, that's all right then. The racists hold their racist views because they believe in them and don't think there's anything wrong with being massively racist.

Close the thread!

fedupofnamechanging · 11/08/2011 10:02

My dad always said that most people are communist when they are young and haven't got a pot to piss in, but gradually move to a right wing position as they age (and personal wealth increases). You are officially an old git when you start voting Tory.

Think this may have been more true back in the days when age tended to increase personal wealth. I'd call myself a socialist, but then, I am skint Smile.

CupcakesandTwunting · 11/08/2011 10:02

Why would you not be able to say black in the context of asking for coffee/singing nursery rhymes, since black is the preferred choice of racial description amongst black people? Confused

Stop reading those Nick Griffin fairy-tale leaflets.

VictorGollancz · 11/08/2011 10:02

And then the poster states that she drinks her coffee black and her milk white. What's your point?

VictorGollancz · 11/08/2011 10:04

I have no doubt that someone, somewhere, is telling people that 'you can't say BLACK, you know, or the Muslims will cancel Christmas'. I also have no doubt that the person saying it is a) not black and b) not muslim, but someone who thinks 'PC has gone mad' and is just making up shite to 'prove' it.

waitingtobeamummy · 11/08/2011 10:04

Just a thought. You could report them on ebay. On the left hand side I'm sure it says report this person and then you can tick a box about being racist or inciting racial hatred or something. I have done it for several "friends" and obviously removed them as friends.
I work with lots of family groups and we sing baa baa black sheep. And I also say black coffee-but I am, due to the nature of my job, called a do gooder Grin

waitingtobeamummy · 11/08/2011 10:04

Facebook obviously not ebay! Blush

CupcakesandTwunting · 11/08/2011 10:06

You IDIOT, waitingtobeamummy. Come and be a do-badder with me. Let's go and do some bad. We can start by kicking some bins over in a shopping precinct.

OldMacEIEIO · 11/08/2011 10:09

my dad said the same Karma
when you are young, if you are not a socialist, you dont have a conscience
when you are middle aged, if you are not a conservative, you dont have a brain

OldMacEIEIO · 11/08/2011 10:10

cupcakes, we saw you putting that cat in the wheelie bin

dont think you got away with it

waitingtobeamummy · 11/08/2011 10:10

oh I do that! And sometimes I get charged for forgetting to pay my credit card to so thats being a do-badder isn't it? Grin and maybe I am a do badder for singing baa baa black sheep! Lets gofor it cupcakes! Grin

georgie22 · 11/08/2011 10:11

I remember when Birmingham had the mad idea to change the name of Christmas to Winterville as they didn't want to upset other cultures. The fact was the other cultures I was visiting daily whilst at work nearly all had Christmas trees, were sending Christmas cards and presents and were looking forward to a few days off work! Just political correctness gone mad and destined to give the racists a further reason to rant.

OldMacEIEIO · 11/08/2011 10:12

goergie

shhhhhsh, dont tell victor

Gonzo33 · 11/08/2011 10:13

Well, my husband got told by his boss the other week that they are not allowed bin liners "black bags" anymore because of concern it could be taken wrong. Quite how "Pass the black bin bag" could be taken wrong I don't know.

Personally I have always referred to people by their name, not their colour or creed.

Hey OP, you would be very unreasonable if you ever allowed any contact between your brother and sisiter in law and your family again. Why should vile abusive (before even getting to ignorant and racist) people be around you? Because of some blood tie? Fuck that

OldMacEIEIO · 11/08/2011 10:20

stop stealing my jokes

OldMacEIEIO · 11/08/2011 10:24

fwiw, I think the guy is a dick, and I would have nothing to do with him.

But I think using the word correctly is important, and thats what the OP wanted, some definitions of the word.

I hate the way the loopy toon left have hijacked the english language. They come on here ranting about a racists who denies he is a racist, whilst at the same time denying they are politically correct loop-fruits when other posters are coming on saying - yes, it does happen.

cognitive dissonance , alive an flourishing on mn

DilysPrice · 11/08/2011 10:25

georgie Winterval (many many years ago now) was a rebranding of the city centre after the last revamp lasting from November to January and including all the various festivals that were due to be celebrated along the way. It was "including" Christmas, not "instead of". I won't deny that it was a tooth-curlingly silly idea, and a boke-inducing word, but it was NOT Birmingham Banning Christmas Because It Offends Muslims.

Pootles2010 · 11/08/2011 10:27

I don't think you're in a position to rant about use of the 'English language' to be quite frank OldMac.

woollyideas · 11/08/2011 10:30

With respect Gonzo, your husband's boss sounds like a twat of the first order. I doubt this is formal 'policy' where your DH works - just someone being a daft eejit! Maybe he's the sort of person who thinks it's no longer possible to order a white coffee...

What bothers me is that I can't ask for a white coffee but have to ask for a regular skinny latte sunny side up or some other nonsense...

It's political correctness gone mad.

itisnearlysummer · 11/08/2011 10:33

cupcakes actually, my dad was told by his public sector employers that they couldn't refer to black and white coffee anymore. That was mid/late 80s. I don't know what the same organisation's stance is now! No one had heard of Nick Griffin back then!

We discussed it round the dinner table at the time and none of us could quite understand why 'black coffee' or 'white coffee' was racist either but I think there was a time when seeing a difference was the problem.
