www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23977196-shame-of-the-mother-who-saw-her-bad-daughter-looting-in-tottenham.do

I get that there are underlying issues, and that castigating the "scum" underclass is not going to acheive anything but this story for me, epitimises things

how can anyone defend her right to be a mother, and her right to benefits and a council flat? now she will go to prison, her poor child will either go to his grandmother or into care, and the cycle continues

something needs to be done to disincentivise girls like this from having children. I am not advocating sterilisation, or having kids wrought off their mothers in labour ward BUT we have a society where girls like this have babies, and they are the kids that end up rioting

people say that education and support is the answer, but in some cases people should NOT have any more kids and I think we are being far too liberal, she's a bad un. end of.

I dont need to live on a council estate to know people who live in council flats. Hmm

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 10/08/2011 22:41

The link - hope this works, MrsRhettButler.

usualsuspect · 10/08/2011 22:42

Ah the old I know a bloke .....

blackeyedsusan · 10/08/2011 22:43

perhaps people assume it is easy to get a council flat before they get pregnant.... and then they get somewhere not so nice, learning the hard way. would more practical education on the responsibility/realities of parenthood help people to make more informed decisions? seeing a typical flat they may be allocated, trying to get buggy baby and shopping up the stairs because there is no lift/lift broken, practical budgeting lessons and finding out how much things really cost and what you have to buy with the seemingly large sum of benefits. (boys as well as girls)

izzywhizzyletsgetbusy · 10/08/2011 22:44

Whatever makes you think that she will be sentenced to a prison term? Or that if she is given a custodial sentence, it won't be suspended?

porcamiseria · 10/08/2011 22:45

I did not mean "she deserves to have her child taken away", irrelevant really anyway as she will go to prison sadly, and she will lose her child, just shes a shit mum and I feel so sorry for her kid . did you read she got evicted a few times for antisocial behaviour too? nice

Its very hard to post on this topic without sounding like "disgusted from tunbridge wells" and there are MANY MANY pieces to the eqaution, eduction, social services etc etc

but I do think that certain people shiuld be disincentivised from having children, and if that offends people so be it

One of my own family was offered a council flat within a month of having her baby. The housing officer came to my house to tell me exactly what she needed to do to get priority.

catgirl1976 · 10/08/2011 22:45

I dont think she will get a custodial sentence tbh

GypsyMoth · 10/08/2011 22:45

....you'd offer an heroin addict £1000??

tethersend · 10/08/2011 22:48

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

As you were.

MrsRhettButler · 10/08/2011 22:49

Ah yes it did thank you stayingdavidtenantsgirl

It says she was trying on trainers, I know it's bad in itself but it doesn't say she did the looting?

usualsuspect · 10/08/2011 22:49

hit me tethers please ,put me out of my misery

porcamiseria · 10/08/2011 22:50

stayingdavid

I know what you mean, and not all teenage mums are bad! some do very well for thelselves, and bring up good kids.

But this one IS a bad un, and there are alot like her too. I get the dads have a role too, but its the women that have the kids so they are the ones we need to start with

RitaMorgan · 10/08/2011 22:51

Why do you think she will go to prison porcamiseria?

catgirl1976 · 10/08/2011 22:51

and me. I don't have what it takes to tear myself away so I need someon to take control and knock me out.

DaisyDaresYOU · 10/08/2011 22:54

Hope people dnt mind me posting this here.Don't wanna make a thread about it.But I saw something on twitter and reported it.Did I do right thing?feel a bit nervous now as I think its a troll.

squeakytoy · 10/08/2011 22:54

It says she was trying on trainers, I know it's bad in itself but it doesn't say she did the looting?

She is right outside the sodding shop that they came from!

MrsRhettButler · 10/08/2011 22:55

She's not a teenager either btw, but that's besides the point

usualsuspect · 10/08/2011 22:55

A twitter troll?

porcamiseria · 10/08/2011 22:57

I just wish that we could find a way to prevent shit mums and feckless dads from having kids that will end up being deprived, neglected

this girl struck me as a bloody depressing example, FFS her own motjer hates her, is scated of her.

I am not saying POOR people, I am saying bad people

cos like it or not we have a social system that incentivises it

ita not a knee jerk reaction, seeing this shit for years asnd now its rearing its head

sorry my view offends you, but ratrher be so scathing, please give me some alternative views

OP posts:
MrsRhettButler · 10/08/2011 22:57

I know that squeaky, but it doesn't say she stole them, if she stole them then surely she'd take her size.....

Anyway, I'm not condoning what she's doing.

DaisyDaresYOU · 10/08/2011 22:57

Yes she saying bad stuff then saying ffs she's only joking to replys

RitaMorgan · 10/08/2011 22:58

So this woman's crime seems to be trying on a pair of trainers outside a looted shop. Not good behaviour, but no suggestion she was involved in violence, rioting or even trespassing?

And for this the OP thinks she deserves to lose her home, her child (and her right to have children), and get a custodial prison sentence? Maybe we should cut off her hands while we're at it.

MrsRhettButler · 10/08/2011 22:58

Hi usual :)
