before i had dc they never came over, now they are over all the time ~(and never less than 4 at a time ) and always demand a cup of tea for every person.

I like to have a cuppa once a day (bf'ing) so buy twinings everyday bags, anyhoo i only had 4 tea bags (after buying a new box 3 weeks ago) left and they text to say they where coming over and did we want them to bring anything, i said tea bags and washing up liquid (dp works away so its a pain to just pop out for tea bags). they said no they would not buy them!!

Soooo i brought them sainsburys basic and me twinings...............=D childish,maybe.......satisfying,yes!

What an odd thing to do, offer and then refuse!

I think I would do the same giving them the cheap tea! I don't drink tea or coffee. My inlaws, when they come over often have a few bags of groceries (good but at the same time they don't ask what we want/need/like, many iffy things we have had!) and we honestly haven't bought tea bags for years

My mum and step dad visit every Sunday and have about 2 cups each, my stepdad sometimes manages 3! I think the amount that is used on a Sunday is about the same as is used by my OH during the week! And they are happy to keep using the same mug! :o

Tortoise

We're mostly a group of friends with kids the same age, we go through epic amounts of toast, so bread is a given:) Another friend is ill waiting for a kidne ystone to exit the system so I took bread and milk last time I went as it is usually the stuff used most when you have kids in the house. If it's people I don;t know very well, such as a playdate or some such I might perhaps bake a cake, but the other stuff, that's just normal for us.

I am in need of one myself right now. I'm off to take the kids to shop for a little air in a wee while, and the butchers in on the list of places we need to go. I may even get sausages too. And a fluffy crusty loaf.

Tea and toothpaste are the only products where I'm fussy about brand. Anything else I don't mind. If anyone ran down and didn't refill my stash of tea they would be in bother!! For refusing to get you some tea from the shop I'd say YANBU.

I need to know EXACTLY what they said when you asked them to pick up the teabags.

DumSpiroSpero · 11/08/2011 16:51

YANBU. In fact you're being quite generous. I don't drink tea and DH only drinks decaff. When my in-laws come they bring their own teabags! Grin

YOU (sat relaxing with baby) 'yes do just help yourself, the kettle is full'

When i visit friends i tend to bring a little sweet treat to share if they don't need anything from the shop.
