Festi, the latest was there was a standoff but there is another building on fire now.

Lets hope for EVERYONE local it is sorted sooner rather than later and before there are any fatalities. Although there is questioning about whether everyone was off the bus before it was petrol bombed.

Unless your uncle decides to leave his house at nearly midnight and join them he'll be fine.

My heart really does go out to the Police and all their families when things like this happen Sad

Really, any child seen out on the streets rioting should be taken straight into bloody care...the poor little things Sad

festi · 06/08/2011 23:51

must be horrible to be caught up in it, but Im sure it will disperse through out the night.

festi · 06/08/2011 23:54

totally agree worraliberty, but many of them are probably in care sadly, yet still abscond.

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2011 23:55

worra, I doubt he will.

I am watching on BBC news and the amount of youngsters is unbelievable!!!

OP posts:
TheLadyEvenstar · 07/08/2011 00:03

OP posts:
festi · 07/08/2011 00:04

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/08/2011 00:27

I am sure he'll be fine TLE. I'm watching it now, and it seems to be dissipating.

I too am Shock about the number of youngsters still around - where the fuck do their parents think they are, if not causing trouble on the streets.

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/08/2011 01:04

sb, I would think the parents are there somewhere.

Apparently reports are now saying there are pockets of trouble breaking out around the area.

On some estates young kids are out late with gangs, sadly it's normal for them. Try not to worry OP; your uncle should be fine if he stays in.
My great uncle lived on the Langworthy, Salford, until he died at 96 ten years ago.
He didn't seem to notice the shootings & never got bothered by the gangs but he was usually drunk & very laid back!
I hope the riots stop soon but some people don't need much excuse to kick off & smash things up.

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/08/2011 10:22

finally spoke to him this morning. I was wrong about the distance - there were police officers at the end of his road so closer, But he is fine just tired as police helicopters kept him awake.

Is it just me finding it odd that the OP gives her uncle a mobile for emergencies and then promptly loses the number?

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/08/2011 11:03

Chumlee, my phones software buggered up and I lost ALL my numbers.

Gissa, I call him a silly ole duffer to his face. Its the relationship we have I also call him a doddering old git. He calls me his princess Grin

The OP says that her mobile broke, on which the uncle's mobile number was stored. She couldn't ask her mum for the uncle's number because mum was in the south of France; by which I presume she means she couldn't ring her mum's mobile either.

LineRunner · 07/08/2011 11:05

Ah, I x-post with the OP.

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/08/2011 11:08

Line, mum has no service on her phone in the mountains. But I got his number this morning when she popped up online.

Hi TLE, I've managed to put myself out of touch with my own relatives before now because I've had their numbers stored on mobiles which have died, or someone hasn't had a signal.

GypsyMoth · 07/08/2011 12:32

I lost everyone's number recently by losing a phone..... It happens
