I have no idea who the idiot is who Sky are interviewing but he is trying to blame it all on the recession and the government.... ffs.

The whole sodding country is in a recession, but decent people dont go out rioting and looting. This is meant to be England, not a third world country.

This is all about guns, gangs, drugs and violence. Its horrendous, and I feel so sorry for innocent people who are caught up in this.

The reporter is saying children of 8 and 9 are running about in these crowds, where the fuck are their parents?. Hmm

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2011 23:36

Squeaky I guess the parents are there as well Sad

He is a news reporter

Prosch · 06/08/2011 23:36

Well as long as he is at least 5 minutes away, and doesn't go out of his house, I'm sure he (as well as many other residents) will be fine.

Don;t jump on a drama for the sake of another thread, TLE.

It's pathetic.

squeakytoy · 06/08/2011 23:37

fireworks being thrown at the police and horses now :(

Pandemoniaa · 06/08/2011 23:38

Old? In his '60s?

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2011 23:38

Prosch, so being worried about my elderly uncle is jumping on a drama Hmm ok

DogsBestFriend · 06/08/2011 23:38

Is there no decent film on TV porsch? Bored, are we?

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2011 23:38

OP posts:
TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2011 23:39

sorry that was to Pande, he is 69yrs old and yes he is an old man who lives alone just minutes from where this is happening.

AgentZigzag · 06/08/2011 23:41

Am I being naive to be shocked at such young children being reported to be actively involved in a riot?

hellospoon · 06/08/2011 23:41

Prosch.. Seriously? No need

TLE - I hope he will be ok, i am sure he will be. No doubt he has locked his doors and is enjoying an early night

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2011 23:42

You gotta feel for the shop keeper "Jimmy" who is in his shop worried about whether he is going to be attacked.

OP posts:
squeakytoy · 06/08/2011 23:42

A bit naive ZigZag, I am sad to see it, but not shocked anymore.

festi · 06/08/2011 23:42

sadly children that age are too often caught up in gans. many are used as the gun, drug runners etc. poor kids have no chance being caught up in this stuff at such a young age.

Pandemoniaa · 06/08/2011 23:43

I'm sure he will be fine. Unless he plans to go out rioting, that is. But then my mother lived in Northern Ireland throughout the troubles and we always took a rather fatalistic approach to things. If I'd got the conniptions every time they reported a spot of bother in Co. Fermanagh I'd have worried myself into an early grave.

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2011 23:43

ZigZag, I am shocked as well so I must be just as naive.

Spoon, I am sure he will be fine but I can't help but worry. Early night him? he is like me sleeps little anyway.

TheFarSide · 06/08/2011 23:43

I was living in Tottenham during the Broadwater Farm riots - it actually looked far worse on TV than it really was. I wouldn't worry unduly.

Valpollicella · 06/08/2011 23:43

TheLady, he'll be ok - the latest I've heard is that it is relatively contained

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2011 23:44

Pande sorry you just made me chuckle. I can't imagine him rioting but the image did make me chuckle.

OP posts:
Pandemoniaa · 06/08/2011 23:45

I'd rather you chuckled than worried, TLE!

squeakytoy · 06/08/2011 23:45

It is looking a lot calmer in the last fifteen minutes or so. Lets hope it carries on calming down.

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2011 23:45

TFS, I visited Tottenham during the Broadwater farm Riots to visit my grandparents I remember them well. And yes the TV made it look worse.

Val, I just heard that. But I am going to kick his ass into having a housephone after this.

OP posts:
festi · 06/08/2011 23:46

looks like most of the crowds are now bystandards most of the trouble is contained, looks well under control now.

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2011 23:46

Pande, it was just the image of him 69yrs old in a hoody Grin
