I'm not sure if this is a regional thing or nationwide, if its just up here in the North then count yourself extremely lucky that you don't have to witness a gang of young boys (I've seen as young as 10 at least), standing with their friends while they all have 1 hand down their pants, even walking around or standing in a queue, Its everywhere and i just dont know how it started or why. It looks disgusting and makes me sick when i see it....

It started off girls wearing their pyjamas out, then progressed to wearing their curlers out, now the boys have hit back with their own "thing".

Why, Why Why????

Three Scottish kids have caught up with the fad in this house. All three DSs constantly have their hands in their pants the youngest two get told it will fall off if they don't leave it alone. DS1 obviously knows this is big fat little white lie. They all get pretty fed up with being sent to the bathroom to wash their grubby mitts hands 400 times a day. I am also thinking of charging them as I spend a fortune on handwash.

Lisatheonewhoeatsdrytoast · 28/07/2011 16:49

this is very common all over the country...common sight in my livingroom too, DH with his hand down there and will say he's got "itchy nuts" he doesn't he just say's it cause it winds me up Angry Grin

Suncottage · 28/07/2011 16:57

I am embarrassed to know this but my exDH explained it to me the whole hands down pants and trousers round crotch thing.

He used to work at a high security prison and it is prison 'code' for advertising yourself as being 'available' to other prisoners in return for protection or other favours.

It has filtered out into the real world but the kids don't know what they are emulating.

Basically they are offering to be another man's bitch Hmm

Whatmeworry · 28/07/2011 17:02

To play with their balls of course....in the old days they had pockets billiards, but in trousers these the pockets are so low you only get to play with your knees

joric · 28/07/2011 17:16

Oh suncottage really? ... Not sure if the young gangsters know that do you?? :o

Has anyone seen a lad trip up whilst he has his two hands firmly down his trackies trousers? :o

LostMyIdentityAlongTheWay · 28/07/2011 17:27

I regularly have my hand down my pants. It feels great and often makes me laugh after a while, and smile a lot.
AIBU?

(lighten up - we all used to do stupid shit when we were teenagers too. How many of us wore stupid clothes, walked round without our shoes on and sat down on the floor at train stations, because we thought it was cool, alternative and didn't make us look like utter twats).
(just me then? alright....)

More things to worry about IMHO.

errr.. Did all of the above but um, nope... Don't ever remember fiddling in my pants in public.
Can't compare sorry. Confused

Funny how i started this thread then god put one of the funniest incident ive ever seen in my way today. Ive just been out shopping and saw yet another little gang of the grubby hand brigade, as i was walking back to the car i happened to be behind the same group,1 of them was mouthing of to his mates as he walked backwards, fiddling away just like the rest of them....he didnt see the small shrub in his way and couldn't get his hands out of his pants quick enough, face down in the asda car park with his hands still firmly tucked down his pants.

I had to laugh out loud at him and join in with the rest of his friends...

LostMyIdentityAlongTheWay yeah ive done stupid stuff but never fiddled down my pants while ive been outside, my mum would of had a heart attack if she had seen me, come to think of it ive also never sat on the floor at a train station.......(wanders away to the nearest train station in a quest to become cool and alternative)

Honey!!!! I asked earlier if anyone had seen a GHer ( official abbreviation :o) fall over with their hands in their pants!!! I wish I had been there!!

joric · 28/07/2011 19:41

Would have said GHB but tis a 'club' drug :(

Golferman · 30/12/2014 08:10

Haha, I have seen many a woman in the supermarket surreptitiously pull the gusset of their pants our of their crack through skirt/trousers. They do this curious finger and thumb thing and a little wiggle and think no one has noticed it.Smile

MrsMook · 30/12/2014 08:49

Zombie thread!

wheresthelight · 30/12/2014 09:05

My dss does this and it drives me mad! especially as he is a skinny sod so his trousers never stay up and I have often caught him in public with it peeping over the top.

I properly freaked him out before Xmas by telling him he doesn't have to keep checking it, it isn't like it is going to fall off, grow legs and run around after him hoping to be glued back on. it gave him a nightmare apparently Blush

Sickoffrozen · 30/12/2014 09:55

Having moved back to London from Manchester not so long ago, I can confirm that this disgusting trend is more prevalent in the north. I do think this is a class thing though, as any visit to a run-down estate should demonstrate; the young chaps on Kings Road rarely have their hands down their skinny jeans (although this could as much be for logistical reasons as anything else).

I was told by a scally friend that this started as a black American gangsta thing, possibly for one of two reasons;

  1. when you're arrested, they take your belt from you to prevent you hanging yourself, thereby rendering your over-sized trousers liable to fall down. The strategically-placed hand aids suspension
  1. said pose is an affectation of the street-corner gangsta, who keeps his hand on his glock (pistol) which, for obvious reasons, he keeps down his pants

Number two sounds the most likely to me. Somehow, this has translated to working class British lads doing the same, but not knowing why.

Showy · 30/12/2014 13:43

I have nothing new to add to my comments from 3yrs ago...

tiredoutgran · 30/12/2014 13:45

It reminds of the days I worked in the prison and it was the norm with the younger inmates, one hand (and often both) down the joggers at all times! For those of you saying your DH's do it, in public? walking down the street? standing at a bus stop etc? really? Blokes having a quiet feel when they are sat watching telly is one thing but to be doing it in public is pretty disgusting!

Gruntfuttock · 30/12/2014 13:49

Golferman why on earth did you find and resurrect this zombie?

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 30/12/2014 13:53

golfer

Why in gods name would you resurrect a very very old thread to post that?...?

Weird.

Zombie thread

Aeroflotgirl · 30/12/2014 13:53

I know, there were two teenagers who came round once to do a council survey, the boy had his trousers practically round his ankles so his underwear was visibly on display. The hands down the trousers in public, might be a flirting thing, but it kind of makes me concerned as it might give the signal they are after sex.

Aeroflotgirl · 30/12/2014 13:54

oh bloody hell, zombie thread, are people that bored!

londonrach · 30/12/2014 14:38

Maybe they need to check somethings not missing....Xmas Grin

londonrach · 30/12/2014 14:39

Didnt see it was a zombie...

MarjorieMelon · 30/12/2014 14:47

I have never seen this thank God! So what are they doing when they are down there?Hmm
