I know I am, but canvassing others opinion of when is a good time, oh and I'm stuck at work with nothing else to do. So my stance to the can I get my ears pierce, a mobile phone and a TV in my bedroom. The summer after you are 13, 24 and 27 respectively. Really this my opening negiotiation with a 7 going on 17 year old.

What does the great netmums jury think? More the mobile phone and TV as don't want to open the ear piercing can of worms.

I wasn't allowed ear pierced until I was 18 - as my mum deemed it "common". Funny thing is that I didn't bother then and still haven't, partly due to the 80s clip on earings phase...

Television in bedroom - not sure when I had it, if at all at parents home. maybe late teens. We did have 1 in our playroom.

Mobile - again not sure when I got 1, am now 43, so guessing when they first became available whenever that was.

I said I will think about ears pieced when she leaves primary, but only "think about it" as I have no idea how I will feel then, she is 7 now and definately not allowed.

Television - I don't have one in bedroom, not sure we will allow DD to have 1 but think she can have one in playroom when she is 13/14..

Mobile - think secondary school, although may be earlier if she is walking to school alone..

Ha ha! She's lucky you're not using my timetable: ears pierced at 23, first mobile at 43 and I've never had a TV in the bedroom (can't imagine why anyone would want one, unless they were ill and couldn't get out of bed).

ears - 14
tv - never, such a waste of time anyway
mobile - once they go to secondary school. only a cheap one though for saftey reasons.

Had ears pierced at 16 at my expense.
Never had TV in my room (52 now) but neither did my DS's (23 &19)
As far mobile phones, probably had a pay as you go about 16 years ago for about £150 in case my car broke down, and have now had DS1 old phone for about the last 5 years on pay as you go.
Don't really need all this stuff, but DS's seem to need it all.
