To be a little pissed off with DP?

My washing machine has fucked up. It's ancient so no point in getting it fixed so I've ordered a new one. However it's not going to be delivered until next thursday - I had a pile of washing in the machine when it cocked up so that is now soaking wet and half washed - therefore in need of a proper wash before it goes mouldy PLUS my son has just got back from a week abroad so I have a suitcase of his stuff to wash too.

I've just text DP explaining what's happened and asked if I can do a wash at his house, just ONE load and he text back with "can't you use the laundrette?"

This wouldn't have pissed me off so much if it wasn't for the fact that he let his ex wife use his washing machine for an ENTIRE YEAR after they split up and I ask for ONE wash and he points me in the direction of the laundrette??

AIBU??

Maybe that is why he is your DP and not you DH

WhereYouLeftIt · 23/07/2011 16:15

YANBU. I have 'lent' my washing machine to friends in the past under similar circumstances.

LesserOfTwoWeevils · 23/07/2011 16:15

Shock YANBU. That's incredibly mean and petty of him.
Is that normal for him?

AngryChair · 23/07/2011 16:16

what pisses me off as well though is that he is ALWAYS at my house using my cooker, microwave, shower etc etc and he's asked me to wash his stuff that he's left here before.

Did he give a reason why you couldn't use his machine?? Seems very mean-spirited and I would be quite offended Tbh

Groovee · 23/07/2011 16:19

Well next time he wants to use something of yours say no back. So if he wants something to eat he can go home or have a wash, go home.

LesserOfTwoWeevils · 23/07/2011 16:20

On second thoughts, YABU to be "a little pissed off." Unless he has some very good reason to be so selfish and thoughtless, you should be furious!

Well, you know what to say next time he wants to use your cooker/microwave/shower etc, don't you?

And I'm amazed you do his bloody washing!

Come here. Closer. Closer. Closer. Yup. I see it now

Is it that he didn't want you going round to his place for some reason?

AnyFucker · 23/07/2011 16:25

gosh, this man has a very precious washing machine doesn't he ?

it seems his relationships, past and present, are defined by it

is he incredibly tight with money ?

sleepindogz · 23/07/2011 16:27

i feel your pain OP, when my washing machine was on the blink over christmas, it really did get me down. Luckily my mum let me use her machine whenever i wanted to

i would tell the boyfriend to take a very long hike, seriously

NormaStanleyFletcher · 23/07/2011 16:28

and his redeeming features are?

AngryChair · 23/07/2011 16:29

His excuse was "its awkward with the kids been off school" Hmm So either he's lied about his DC knowing I exist or he's frightened to death I'll "waste some of his precious electricity".

I know the second one seems silly and unrealistic but honest to god, last week I was at his house and he offered me a cup of coffee. I drink tons of coffee so an hour later when he asked if I'd like another drink I said "yes please". He said "tea or coke?" so I said "do you have any coffee left?" and he muttered "yeah, but you're drinking loads of it, I'll have none left". I'd had ONE cup!! He doesn't think about the times he's at my house though and drinks 4 cups of the stuff before he buggers off back home again and bare in mind he's at my house like twice a week - I'm very, very rarely at his house.

So yes, he could actually be concerned about me using up his electric and putting his bill up 1p or something

I would just come straight out with it. "Are you a stingey fucker then?"

WhereYouLeftIt · 23/07/2011 16:32

Stinginess is never attractive. And neither is hiding your existence from his DC Hmm.

Have you been together long, AngryChair? Because he does seem rather a freeloader.

babeinthewood · 23/07/2011 16:33

YANBU what a shitter! Id lose him honey! :-O

ThumbsNoseAtSnapewitch · 23/07/2011 16:34

He is being very selfish and stupidly tight-arsed.
You sure you want to stay with him? If you do, don't try to move in together - he'll probably ration your coffee usage, apart from anything else!

Treat him the same way at your house next time (if you stay with him) and see how he likes it. And for God's sake don't do any more of his washing!

whatsallthehullaballoo · 23/07/2011 16:37

Oh my goodness!

The CHEEK of having two yes,X2 cups of coffee in his home out of his budget Shock Shock Shock

Please, in future, take your own jar of coffee with you. And water, you user.

TheMagnificentBathykolpian · 23/07/2011 16:38

So. He'll happily use all your stuff, but he's got you on rations?

And you accept this because...?

AnyFucker · 23/07/2011 16:40

oh, fgs, bin him

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 23/07/2011 16:46

definitely a red flag, dearie.

what else does he do?

ChaoticAngelofGryffindor · 23/07/2011 16:52

It isn't just the washing machine I'd bin.

IQuiteLikeVodka · 23/07/2011 16:55

how ugly!! Hope his coffee and washer keep him warm at night,I'd find this very unattractive :(

technotronic · 23/07/2011 17:01

Tight git! Is he a miserable fecker as well?

I bet he likes you to cook him a proper meal when he stays at yours eh?

FuzzpigFourFiveSix · 23/07/2011 17:03

He sounds a real hoot. Does he send you a bill for the time he spends with you?
