Ooooh! I have never even thought of this, and I think of some random stuff. It has to be 1/2, I'm afraid. Very boring, I know.

3/4 possibly 5 /8

NOW!!! You see I instantly thought of 12.5% which ( of course ) is 1/8 . don't know why I thought in % instead of a fraction but I did.

Perhaps because there were 8 half-crowns in a £.

1/3 or 2/3 they are the simplest fractions that are so much tidier than 0.33333333333333... or 0.66666666666666....

My only maths joke, fx goes into a bar and the barman say sorry we don't cater for functions. I thank you.

5/8

The best way to divide anything, IMO. It's just over half, so you get the bigger bit, but it's not like taking 3/4 or even 11/16, which would be immediately obvious to DH/ other unsuspecting family member Grin

Definitely 5/8

And it worries me a little that I didn't even have to think about the question.

7/32 sprang to mind.

I find that somewhat worrying.

For me it's a choice of three:

22/7 = pi
pi/inf = zero
pi squared = square pies now that's MY favourite fraction

musicposey that's some severe fractional overthinking.

I would have to say 1/2. Why you ask? well thats easy, 1/2 a cake now, and 1/2 a cake later :o results in me not feeling so sickly and bloaty but makes the yummyness last for longer.

The mahmatician in me has to point out that 22/7 approximately = pi.

But it's a good approximation.

RMutt · 22/07/2011 09:26

I/2 (so long as my half is the bigger one Wink)

You are all clearly overlooking 4/6.

Fun to simplify, great to double.

Lovely even numbers.

Sigh. Great thread.

I like 8/13 and 4/5, they bring back fond memories of working part time in a bookies when I was a student.
