To be hacked off God cancelled summer

This is the third year now on the trot where we have hardly had a week of clear blue skys and sunshine. It's rain clouds and horrible summer weather.
Is anyone else fed up with it?

With you Ba8y1 ! It can rain all it likes. Brown grass by May was just wrong wrong wrong. Now my garden's all green and growing again. Lovely.

StopRainingPlease · 20/07/2011 21:29

Well my garden is turning into a bog. Angry It has rained nearly every day for about 6 weeks, some of it torrential. My garden chairs are so soggy that if the sun does briefly come out the chairs don't try out before it starts pouring again.

The last couple of summers were similar.

Enough already!

Whatevertheweather · 20/07/2011 21:31

But missbetsy what's the point of a lovely green garden you can't sit in? I wanna put the paddling pool up and eat ice lollies in my nice green garden

LadyFlumpalot · 20/07/2011 21:47

I can offer a three bedroomed semi with a lovely big garden and veg patch in a lovely rural location - see profile pics - close to Wardour Castle, Stourhead, Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and nearish to Bournemouth, Weymouth, Lyme Regis, Lulworth Cove and the abandoned village at Tyneham...

Hang on, I think I just sold myself my house!

blackeyedsusan · 20/07/2011 21:49

nah, not cancelled, he got super efficient and delivered it a couple of months early... sometime around april...

itisnearlysummer · 20/07/2011 21:52

Well it was only recently that all we heard about was mini heat waves and hosepipe bans.

It really is true that whatever the weather, British people will moan about it!

VanillaRooibos · 20/07/2011 21:53

I have hope I am convinced that summer is just round the corner and August will be hot and sunny, and in September we will have an indian summer!

Whorulestheroost · 20/07/2011 21:53

Yadnbu the weather is shitty and I'm sick of it too. Got a relatives big wedding on Saturday and dd is a bridesmaid so please god do me a big favour Wink

youarekidding · 20/07/2011 22:10

I said similar to a collegue today sausages when she asked why I was singing 'drip drip drip little Ju-ly showers' to a pupil. Not sure whether it was the song or the fact it was almost a monsoon and nothing like a little shower. Grin

I break up or summer hols next week and will be mighty peeved if I don't get some days on the beach.

sausagesandmarmelade · 20/07/2011 22:18

haha youarekidding it's been TORRENTIAL here too actually. Heavy, heavy showers....

Also going to be on leave but most of that will be in (hopefully) sunny Italy....

Ladyflump sounds lovely....
Went to Dorset recently and visited Lulworth Cove (gorgeous!). Was so hot that hubs got sun-burnt

LadyFlumpalot · 20/07/2011 22:22

It is pretty, isn't it. Although, they could have refrained from whacking a gurt big carpark right in the middle of everything... a park and ride further out would have been much better!

sausagesandmarmelade · 20/07/2011 22:26

It's beautiful....but a victim of it's own success methinks. Would be much better natural.

Hubs and I parked further away and walked down to the cove...

Bit of a Thomas Hardy fan...and I love Dorset, full stop! Smile

Am in Vancouver- don't believe the Canadian hype!!!! It has been grey here for 10 days at least!! We had 3 days of glorious weather two weeks ago (i remember it fondly as coincidentally had taken those days off from work!! Everyone i know is completely baffled by the weather and keep saying to me, don't worry we'll just have a lovely August/September (with this glint of doubt and fear in their eyes that maybe just maybe it might not happen)

RunningOutOfIdeas · 20/07/2011 22:57

I can guarantee the UK weather will be gorgeous for the last week of August and the first 2 weeks of September. I can also guarantee that the weather where I will be (in Australia) will be unusually cold and wet. I am never lucky with my holidays.

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 20/07/2011 23:03

Do not lose heart good people. The Met Office Hmm are predicting a stunning August. Forgive me if I do NOT trust the met office. They are based in Exeter. I have just moved from Exeter after 7 years. All they had to do was look out of the bloody window and they still got it wrong....

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 20/07/2011 23:04

If someone can arrange a sunshine dance of some description to guarantee good weather in Angelsey in August I will be most grateful. Thank you please.

gomummygo · 20/07/2011 23:10

Can I join the swap? I'm in Canada (Ontario) and melting, SOEnvy of those with a/c! We're setting record highs and the humidity is indescribable, just want to lie down and do nothing in the basement! The resulting thunderstorms have been a bit scary.

I can offer lots of water to canoe/kayak/fish/whatever, parks and golf courses?

I would be happy to go anywhere the weather does not go above 25 or below -25!

superjobee · 20/07/2011 23:30

i want sun on the ground with some warmth, not much to ask... ? surely?...

saying that im 25 wks pg and roasting constantly and even before pg i got v.moody when i was too hot so i am a nightmare just now Hmm pity everyone who knows me atm!

Morloth · 21/07/2011 08:14

RosieMapleLeaf that sounds lovely, could you throw in Jensen Ackles maybe? I will be on a plane ASAP.

It is winter here at the moment, but I can see the buds on the trees already!

ledkr · 21/07/2011 08:26

I am sad cos im on mat leave so have summer hols off for the first time in tears and cant fly cos of the babies cleft palate,i am truly in pergatory unless it cheers up

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2011 08:33

Fear not! It looks to be a much improving picture by the middle of next week! In fact I foresee a few 'its too hot' threads by next Thursday if the models don't change.

LaWeasel · 21/07/2011 08:42

I love you - OhYouBadKitten!!!

I have been terrifying myself with the vision of seven weeks of rain, my toddler and a small town with no car.

(In fact I'm going out now it's not bad here today)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2011 08:49

:)

You need a Plan!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 21/07/2011 08:55

I love the rain and the cool weather. Bloody hate hot weather. If it heats up next week like OYBK says, I shall be after you lot Angry
