I don't even think I could fasten the seatbelt on the plane.

Am 5'6 and 20st, it would not go round me would it!

I was going to post exactly what madmn just said! It will be an excellent boost for you and will help you with your healthy eating and fitness regime. Well done on the 2 stone!!

Unlike some of the others, I don't think you should go. I know you should!

Have been where you are, and if you don't go now your confidence will take a nosedive and it'll be harder to do other things, believe me.

You've already worked so hard to lose 2 stone, that's a fab achievement - go to celebrate your success! And SW is a really 'portable' kind of diet, if you've done it long enough to lose that amount then you know how it works and it'll come easily while you're away.

Have fun Grin

YABVVVVVVU. You've lost 2 stone, that's amazing! You deserve a treat, and what better than a wonderful restful holiday with someone who loves you for who you are?

Holidays always kick-start healthy eating for me anyway - all that lovely in-season fruit, salad, olives etc. Mmm.

Plus you will look and feel 10 times better about yourself after some great sex sleep, and some sun on your hair and skin.

Oh OP, i know how you feel. I wont go on holiday either, shame as i have one parent in costal spain and the othe in south france, i dont get to see them often. But i just cant do it. I wont go swimming or bowling (he whole leaning over with a sizable arse..no!) wont go to a gym. My life is ridiculously restricted because im too fat, so i know how you're feeling. You really should go if you feel at all able to, it will be such a massive lift. You're losing weight and should celebrate that at least....actually, a whole weekend DC free....Id at least book in a travel lodge and enjoy the peace Grin

babydubseverywhere Sad How awful for you. You should be who you are - I hate all these prejudice that people have towards people of different shapes and sizes.

I am 20stone and I'm going on a seven hour flight today. I know exactly what you mean, I do feel a little nervous and self concious. I am helped by the fact that I live in Texas and no one blinks an eye at me as half the state is morbidly obese. So I blend in.

I usually get the seat belt to close when it's out all the way but I'm always a little nervous it won't. I'm going to take JanMorrow's excellent advice and ask for an extender while boarding.

If I can do it you can do it. It's a momentary discomfort with a fab prize at the end. Later today I will be 2000 miles away hugging my mom and sisters I haven't seen in nearly five years, fat arse or not!

I think you should definitely go - life is too short for postponing everything until 'when I'm thin.' I really don't think you'll be too big to go on the plane, there are plenty of people your size and bigger.

You've done really well to lose the 2 stone so far, that's a fantastic start and you deserve a lovely relaxing holiday with your DH. If you don't go - well, if it was me I'd end up sitting at home over-eating out of unhappiness and self-loathing. So go. You'll have a great time.

They certainly don't have to give you a double seat, where did that urban myth start?

You don't say how long the flight will be; but if you can possibly bear it, go.

DoubleNegativePanda · 19/07/2011 14:11

You can have a double seat, but you have to purchase another ticket for it.

I got the seatbelt done up on an el cheapo shito apologies are 10 quid extra airline recently at 17stone. I know the fear it won't do up - but let's face it - no body at ALL fits comfortably into an airline seat - even a bloody twig wouldn't.

My friend bought her own seatbelt extender online that she takes with her whenever she flies - she doesn't even have to ask for one that way - although that is a bit over the top!

However, she says that she doesn't even need it 95% of the time - it just gives her peace of mind.

I am at this moment comfortably ensconced in my seat on the plane, having sneaking procured my seatbelt extender while boarding.

Thanks again JanMorrow, you saved me so much anxiety! So simple but I never thought to do it.

OP, go take your holiday!!

Go go go! Don't be like me, seeing your life go by while you wait to be the size that the rest of the world thinks you should be. You're a long time dead.

And well done on the 2 stone! That's fantastic! :)

GO!! You sound like me... I have spent the last 15 years not doing things because of my weight... It's not good... You must go!

You should go OP, if not for yourself then go for your DH and your child/children. I am similar size to you and although I haven't always felt like doing things I have made myself and have invariably enjoyed it once I've got there.

My DD was recently asked by our GP if my being overweight had been an issue in her life and she told him in no uncertain terms (without any input from me) that she thought seeing me living a full, active, happy life despite admitting I'd like to be smaller was a far more positive influence than a mother of normal size who was constantly on a diet as some of her friends' mums are Smile

The only person putting you down here is yourself so push yourself out of your comfort zone and enjoy it.
