kidsscareme · 14/07/2011 20:15

when you say 'no more booze' .... how much have you had already?

AgentZigzag · 14/07/2011 20:15

YABU, you should have been more organised Grin

tifflins · 14/07/2011 20:16

Sweaty bollocks is better than nothing.

AgentZigzag · 14/07/2011 20:17

We have some saki as a back up, bought it to try and it tastes foul, but OK if there's nothing else in Grin

upahill · 14/07/2011 20:18

We've got a six cases of wine and 24 bottles of cider in the spare bedroom.
It's been there for ages because we hardly drink.

tifflins · 14/07/2011 20:18

Only had 3 cans of lager Kidsscareme.
Am kicking myself for total lack of planning ahead Agent.

as a matter of principle I don't drink at home
due to me worrying that I may have "drinking genes" - my father and grandfather both died of alcohol related complications (astma and cancer)
both were alcoholics most of their adult life

I don't want to rely on alcohol for stress relieve

plenty of bottles in the house - from tombolas and trips abroad, just don't drink them
or buy

maybe one bottle of cider or ale every couple of months - that at home

if I go out with friends - I drink
just don't go out to pubs that often

NoobyNoob · 14/07/2011 20:19

Have a cuppa instead? Might be a little better for you?

ifancyashandy · 14/07/2011 20:19

Wonder how long it'll be before Fabby comes along and tells you what a pisshead you are and sad it is tha you can't last an evening Grin!!

michglas · 14/07/2011 20:21

haha think Fabby is trying to say you are an alcoholic - oh no Fabby, better get me sent to AA because I really fancy a drink tonight too. Just need to convince DH that he does want to nip to the supermarket.

CoffeeIsMyFriend · 14/07/2011 20:21

I have a cabinet full of booze, a fridge full of wine/beer/lager but rarely drink in the house.

Sounds to me like you have more of an issue than no booze in the house.

michglas · 14/07/2011 20:22

meant to say Kayah of course, and Kayah just because you may have alcoholic tendencies, doesn't mean everyone else does.

catgirl1976 · 14/07/2011 20:22

Can you not go for a nice healthy walk with the DCs that just happens to go near a shop, remember you need to pop in for some milk and have a nice cold bottle of wine just fall into your basket by accident?

Feel for you, but if it makes you feel better I am pg so haven't had a drink since March :( I do miss wine. Wine was my friend.

HairyGrotter · 14/07/2011 20:22

Christ, can't even have a drink in your own home. Woe.

I have a bottle of Rose but I'm saving that for pre-nightout drinkies.

tifflins · 14/07/2011 20:23

Ah, yes i am a pisshead, BUT i have managed to stay off the booze since saturday night (smug smile of rightness). i envy those who can ignore that gorgeous bottle of chardonnay calling their name............

catgirl1976 · 14/07/2011 20:25

Or a lovely chablis. All dry and yummy. Oooh or a Crabbies Ginger Beer. They are lovely on a hot day. mmmmmm. Can you tell I miss it?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 14/07/2011 20:25

are you a pisshead?

do you always feel anxious if there is no alcohol in the house?

kidsscareme · 14/07/2011 20:26

3? You should have started the back up plan after the first one. tut tut

Round here you can pay a taxi to go to the offy for you :o

Just searched my own cupboard as you got me in the mood so Im now washing down my Uniflu with a little glass of baileys Blush

ifancyashandy · 14/07/2011 20:27

I too have abstained since Sat but I have an opened bottle in the fridge. However, I AM GOING TO RESIST!! Been to gym every day this week and going tomorrow and Sat, so Sat night I shall DRINK (like a good British binge drinking girl Grin!)

catgirl1976 · 14/07/2011 20:27
Envy
tifflins · 14/07/2011 20:28

if my pesky kids weren't all snuggled up in bed fast asleep Catgirl, i think your idea is superb and i would be marching them down that corner shop pronto 'for a pint'.

OP posts:
kayah · 14/07/2011 20:28

michglas - alcoholic tendencies

good topic for discussion

I think I don't have them

I think I a mlikely to have genes and given the right circumstances would be very easy to slip into wine o'clock habit ;)

I never got addicted to cigarets even though I smoked for 8 years, I guess the same would be with alcohol

I just don't fancy finding out thet it may be othervise
