Thankyou for the explanations, I understand the issue about positive discrimination much better now, and can see why it should be focused more on the outcomes being equal rather than people being treated in exactly the same way.

I still agree with Butlins though, for the reaons given by MrSpoc.

TheHumanCatapult · 15/07/2011 21:20

btw on this thread niceguy I do agree with you .That they should have contacted Butlins first and try to see if they could resolve it with senior level staff first before the papers .

What Iwould always do if am not happy with service you keep taking it up to the next in line .

But do agree intimidation can happen not just with large groupsof people .somebody being drunk and having a go or just yelling their mouth of could be far more intimadating than a group of people having fun

poncy. You have presumed MrSpoc or children don;t have 'particular neeeds' too????

Read the rest of the thread. The issue was with comunication not with the fact the group had adults with needs.

Got off your high horse.

appplepie · 16/07/2011 11:55

What you really should be compalining about is the fact that is people with access problems need a ground floor apartment they have to pay extra for it.

£10 extra for ground floor...

you suggested that mrspock was being discriminate by implying the laws were put in place for "people with your veiws"

Sounded like you were being asumptive to me

TheHumanCatapult · 17/07/2011 18:35

applepie if infact you can take/send proof of diabbility that £10 is taken of either at booking or refunded on site

mumblecrumble · 17/07/2011 19:48

is it? Really? I menioned disabitlilty on the phone and they didn;t mention it. What would I need to take? Just the usual?

TheHumanCatapult · 18/07/2011 10:50

yes I just take ds3 blue badge and they accept that it all depends on the level of disablity .We used to do teh same as you and only book g/f for same reasons

Though next year it is proper adapted accomidation so differnt .Centre parcs do not chargeyou the central fee of £45 if you ave booked one of their adapted villas

'How can it possibly be an equal opportunity in this case if the group is able to do something that non disabled people can't do?

Not convinced Butlins are wrong but the answer to that is easy: if they were not disabled adults they could attend in small independent groups without need to be taken by a carer or as part of a resi unti group.

However IME Butlins have been excellent with my ASD boys and although we haven't been for ages and can't see it happening ahgain in the sort term at elast, the boys loved every minute and created some great memories. I hope we are in a position to take ds4 at least once.
