On holiday a substantial distance from home - think 8 hour flight. A couple of days in your DP/DH/DW sustains an injury to his/her neck that when she wakes in the morning she is barely able to move and actually is sick and breaking out in a cold sweat with the pain. Three days later they are still in serious pain, that is not really subsiding.

Can I ask how you would react to them and what you would try to do for them?

Would you

a. Seek immediate medical attention for them, as you do have travel insurance, would you be worried and concerned for them etc?

Or

b. Would you check on line that your holiday insurance was covered then go back to bed leaving them in absolute agony, would you then for the next few days discourage them from seeking medical attention as it is a "pain in the arse, in this country", encourage them to wait until they were getting home in 10 days time? Would you show little or no interest in their injury and make no allowances for it at all?

Just wondering.

the flight back is going to be terrible, plus the packing and lugging bags about on the way back

i too think you are mad not to get medical advice

TheOriginalFAB · 08/07/2011 18:55

PLEASE get help now.

ensure · 08/07/2011 18:57

I can only agree that you are mad to not go to get checked out. :(

SilverSky · 08/07/2011 19:00

Take your dc with you to the hospital. Seriously, necks are not to be messed with. I think I've read that you are not to use Deep Heat on necks?

By not getting it seen your OH clearly thinks that the pain is not as bad as you say and thinks you are crying wolf.

The comment when in labour is extremely unhelpful, insensitive and pointless.

Why aren't his family more concerned about you? My MIL would be flapping round like the proverbial mother hen wanting to look after me!

ineedanewhusband · 08/07/2011 19:12

Because they are like him. I got a mini lecture from MIL the other day the key point of which was " there can only be one boss in a marriage and *** (dh) has been brought up to believe it should be the man, so just let it all wash over you". Gee thanks for that MIL.

I think I'd start being boss for a bit.

Firstly by getting myself to the hospital.

Secondly by telling MIL that she's probably right, so she can have him back now, because you're off to find a better one.

Grin first laugh I have had all week SH. Yes, think I am going to promote myself with immediate effect.

OP just read your post at 18:26.

He is a class A cunt. I would grab his balls, twist them tightly into a knot and say "you want some fucking pain relieft..... nah, your threshold is too low"

He is a shit and you need to seek medical help.

God help your kids when they get injured doing teenage things.

aliceliddell · 08/07/2011 19:29

You selfish cow, ruining his holiday by nearly breaking your neck imagining you have hurt yourself. Shame on you.

Dozer · 08/07/2011 19:48

Please go and get checked out.

You need to get your cervical vertebra checked at the very least...you could even have a hairline break fgs!!!

Is it worth possibly becoming permenently paralysed???

MugglesandLuna · 08/07/2011 20:20

He sounds like an arse and you need to tell him so.
But go and get checked out first, if you dont it might be more than a holiday thats effected.

thenameiwantedwastaken · 08/07/2011 21:46

Ineedanewhusband - my DP is a physio and can be a bit blase about most injuries. But never necks! A neck injury is his worst fear. I don't say this to scare you but to emphasise, please, please get yourself checked out asap!
