To think that you should not use the parent/child spaces at the supermarket once your kid is over, say, 5?

Ok - fine if your child has special needs over 5 but otherwise you should not park there. Surely it means you have a non-walking child/toddler/buggy/car seat. Kids getting out of cars in those spaces in school uniforms annoy me...AIBU?

Oooo this is fun! I have 2 DS, aged 10 & 7, both autistic - do I win a prize for the hidden disability card? Although, when my eldest opens his door and slams it into your car parked next to me, you might just spot he's a little different.... And why is it, when I park at the far end of the car park, all by myself (to avoid the whole 'don't open the door so wide' routine with my lovely boy), some muppet comes and parks right next to me in an otherwise empty row??? Am I now being unreasonable?!

ChaosTrulyReigns · 03/01/2012 23:21

Hullo?

maypole1 · 03/01/2012 23:23

What if you have triplets who are 6

Or a few children over the age of 5 or what if your pregnant op your a bit hmmm

Dee03 · 03/01/2012 23:25

The age limit is a child under 12 in sainsburys.....just saying!!
And can I just say while I'm on this subject that when I park in a normal space it makes my blood boil when the car next to me has parked sooo bloody close I can barely get my leg in the door let alone my size. 20 arse!!! Rant over Sad

doh

startail · 03/01/2012 23:28

You should not use PC parking places once you don't need to strap them in.
That depends totally on design of car seat, seat belt and sense level of the child.

ElleJB · 03/01/2012 23:33

Hear hear Dee03! Methinks I need a 'Fat Bird with Spazzy Kids Don't Park So Close' badge - do you think DVLA issue them?

ReindeerBollocks · 03/01/2012 23:38

I park in P&C spaces with my 7yo DC just to piss off people like the OP Wink

wornoutbutstillwonderful · 03/01/2012 23:39

I don't get all these threads, I can't be arsed usually to see what age the kids are jumping in and out of the cars in p & c spaces, my dc are all capable of walking the few extra feet to the store and I just presume the spaces would be more wisely used by parents of none-walkers, newborns etc or if you have a runner.

cambridgeferret · 04/01/2012 13:08

Question is, if I park in a P&C space, in fact across 2 of them in my 4 x4 with a front facing seat for DD2 (3) and breastfeeding DD1 (7) while driving at the same time, and then use a disabled loo, have I covered all bases or have I missed one?

oldmerryolesoul · 04/01/2012 13:22

I havn't read all the replies. I realise P+C are a bonus and so I wont fret if one isnt available, but will use if I see one spare. DS is 6 next week and still in a Group1 (5 point harness) he can just about fasten it sometimes but cant tighten it up all so I still have to do the almost climbing in the back thing (3 door car). A P+C, as I said is a bonus and prevents any bashing of doors

I do think when DC's can get in and out of the car on their own and can deal with the seatbelt themselves then they are pushing their luck

Olderyetwilder · 04/01/2012 13:26

I have to park in them with my teenagers because they are too lazy to walk from the more distant spaces Wink

piprabbit · 04/01/2012 13:35

I am 99% certain that the P&C spaces in our local car parks all have signs explaining exactly what criteria applies.

Sainsbury's (I think) say something about them being for parents with children under 12 years. So YABU.

Tough one...I think you need a hidden disability to really hit full house, but b/f at 7 gives bonus points.

Maybe a frootshoot for DD2 to suck on for a jackpot shot?

cambridgeferret · 05/01/2012 20:37

Oh Bum.
She doesn't like fruitshoots. I'll give her a Greggs sausage roll instead :)
