To think that you should not use the parent/child spaces at the supermarket once your kid is over, say, 5?

Ok - fine if your child has special needs over 5 but otherwise you should not park there. Surely it means you have a non-walking child/toddler/buggy/car seat. Kids getting out of cars in those spaces in school uniforms annoy me...AIBU?

I am a sinner!!!!!!!I have a 4 x 4 and a 5 yr old and I sometimes use the P and C parking. On the whole I try to avoid them, but then some prick parks so close to the car seat side that I cant get him in!! Why do people do that?

naturalbaby · 06/07/2011 15:00

so now we have a competition for who deserves the P&C spaces most (me please with a 5month old, nearly 2yr old who likes to run at the 1st whiff of freedom and a 3yr old who likes to run faster than i can say 'off we go')
and a competition for who deserves disabled spaces most?!? shall we have graded blue badges now so everyone can inspect them in the windscreen as they pass??

PiousPrat · 06/07/2011 15:01

I'm hugely pregnant and rond here, people park like arses so it is a nightmare squeezing my fat arse shapely bump through the 6 inch gap left when parking properly between the lines of a normal space.

Should I be allowed a P&C space as I am 'with child'? Grin

Tanif · 06/07/2011 15:04

Tree hugging liberals... Tell you what. Let's make sure EVERYONE has a special space in the carpark. We can have a section for people that are disabled, a section for people that are 'disabled', P&C, SPECIAL P&C, parent and teenager, elderly, cars with spoilers, people who like digestive biscuits... the list is endless.

Hullygully · 06/07/2011 15:04

THEY ARE ALL BASTARDS. BASTARDS. SHOOT THE FUCKERS ON SIGHT

floosiemcwoosie · 06/07/2011 15:06

I dont want my Mulberry bashed...i think i should have my own space

The ds will be fine, he can climb out the sunroof

AuntieMonica · 06/07/2011 15:08

but who 1st, hully?

see, still has to be a pecking order Sad

sunshineandbooks · 06/07/2011 15:08

Grin PiousPrat Definitely! You are literally parent/child in one. I remember having the same problem (I was huge as I was carrying twins).

thumbwitch · 06/07/2011 15:08

I have no need to re-read your comment, thanks Tanif. Nor any wish to.

I only park in them if I am shopping for my dc. I can't see what the diff is if they are actually with me or not.

floosiemcwoosie · 06/07/2011 15:11

wine drinkers, thats who should cme first. Not only do we have bottles to carefully balance but we are also pissed therefore require more room to lurch about.

Good point floosie.

Blu · 06/07/2011 15:22

No one with a child too old to breast feed should use a P&C space.

Ta Daaaaa!

thumbwitch · 06/07/2011 15:25

oh Blu.... well named there, having just lit the blue touchpaper on the BF ishoo as well! Grin

Debs75 · 06/07/2011 15:40

Just make parking spaces big enough for the average sized car

MadYoungCatLady · 06/07/2011 15:58

I've never really understood the whole P&C thing - surely everyone knows when they decide to have children that they will inevitably end up at the supermarket one day? Why do parents get special places? At my local supermarket P&C spaces are closer than disabled spaces to the entrance. I think its disgusting!

DoraJarr · 06/07/2011 16:00

i use the fuckers and my kids are 8 plus.

oohjarWhatsit · 06/07/2011 16:00

i always park in them if there are no others available

my sainsbury says leave them for parents with kids under 14!

yeah right

Illegitimate · 06/07/2011 16:03

I park across two normal spaces- gives me loads of roomGrin

I think supermarkets should design their car parks as follows:
Wide spaces, close to doors - disabled.
Wide spaces, next step away from doors - parent and child that cannot yet walk, follow the green cross code or put on a seat belt independantly.
Wide spaces, a long way from the door - fat people of any ilk (disabled or with child or with parent or with sausage roll).
Wide spaces in the next car park along with covered 'hanging about' areas - teenagers.
All other spaces, normal sized - anyone that didn't pass the test upon entrance.
Also, every car park should provide adequate 'lurking space' for anyone that wastes their time enjoys being a 'stickler' (what, what, quick dig in the ribs like)

TheFlyingOnion · 06/07/2011 16:33

"Wide spaces, a long way from the door - fat people of any ilk (disabled or with child or with parent or with sausage roll)."

Grin @ happydoll

I park in the P+C spaces for two reasons only:

  1. if I'm with my mum (alright I'm 33 but it still counts)
  2. if there are no other spaces.

I know some people regard having kids as a disability, but I don't see why they need to be nearer the doors....

Anyone who parks in a disabled space without a blue badge gets my full ire....

Excellent happydoll Grin then we all know just what order we should be in! pmsl
