I don't give a monkeys what anyone else does. But why do people see fit to judge just because someone wants to go on a diet in order to be slim, and because I spend time and money on what I look like.

Was talking to SIL (I don't like her anyway) at the weekend - at MIL's house. Talking about diets. MIL is going to weightwatchers, I just said that I am going to go on a mini-Dukan diet this month to knock off a stone. I am not overweight exaclty, but feel better at my fighting weight of 10 stone, and have been eating too much crud lately so want to cut down.

SIL said that I was 'one of those' who is self-obsessed and borderline anorexic because all I do is think about food and how thin I am.

She also sneered because I had had my hair done (roots) at the weekend, lovely MIL said 'ooh your hair looks nice' and again she sneered and said 'I bet you went to somewhere like Toni & Guy or Blushes (poncey Cheltenham hairdresser) as opposed to a normal salon.

The woman gets on my tits. But have seen similar remarks on here sometimes - judged as being shallow and a bit fick if you do spend time wanting to be skinny etc. Doesn't mean I think of nothing else. Doesn't mean I am self-obsessed.

Bloody SIL she always annoys me.

I had a blowdry by a mid range stylist at Blushes a few months ago (wedding in Cheltenham) and it was under £25! She simply sounds jealous and petty. Ignore her!

Oooh if you're in the shire and she thinks blushes is poncey, you could get your colours and style done at house of colour and that would REALLY put her nose out of joint [devil emoticon]

Ohhhhh I had/have (sort of) a friend like this. If my roots needed doing she'd take the piss, if I got them done I was a blonde bimbo. If I used fake tan I'd apparently look like an orange (I do hope not because I've never gone overboard with it) if I didn't I was a milkbottle. She'd sneer when I got my nails done or she'd take the mick about shovelling my make up on with a trowel.

Guess what? over time she began to start using sunbeds, getting the nails done, asking me to do her make up for various occassions. In short I think it was more that she secretly admired the things she took the piss out of/was disdainful of. No idea what it was about me personally that caused her to do it because another friend of hers is very all about the way she looks yet the sun shines outta her arse. I was her bridesmaid and had never met the maid of honour but was consistently 'warned' about how stunningly beautiful she is, body of a goddess, amazing face etc...and I'll say this because the other bridesmaid was actually a horrible cow who I gave numerous chances before giving her up as a bad job (snotty, snotty mare) she was plug ugly!

Yes the dog thing is very bad! I can hate her for that alone.

it's quite insensitive to talk about your dieting to someone who has more to lose than you do because it makes them feel even fatter.

As you're already slim and groomed, you may not realise this could be why she lashed out.

YANBU. My best friend is slim, gorgeous and the most stylish person I know. She always looks amazing. It is unbeleiveable how bitchy people are about her. She and I went to one of those candle parties and one of my other freinds snidely said "Oh, didn't know we were meant to dress up".

DF just doesn't do dress down. Of course she does if she's doing chores etc but she even loks amazing fresh fromt he gym!

I too like to look my best and have my roots/colour done often and I am always thinking about my weight and try to eat very healthy.

FWIW, I don't see my SIL's anymore (DH's sisters) but when I first met him, they would always pick me to bits and comment on my clothes - I would rather buy one pair of shoes at £100 and have them last and look nice whereas they would buy 10 pairs at £10 each and then wonder why the shoes would fall to bits in a week.

LeQueen, see I would have never ever gone on holiday with them ever.... They go abroad to eat egg and chips every night in English greasy spoon cafes.... - see what i had to put up with!

What is wrong with people accepting that everyone is different?
Bella can attest to the fact that when we have met up as a gang of females (though I missed the last one ), we spent the whole time complimenting each other! No snide remarks, no bitchiness.
I think that envy at all costs mindset is very wearing. Everyone is different, everyone has different "raw material" and budgets to work with that, some don't bother, fine. Some people just seem obsessed with looks and what others have/have not.
