... not a feminist?

Since I killed the old one.

Its not an attack on women first, you have failed to prove that at all. It is an attack on the poor, which includes men, women and children. A comfortably-off woman is not going to feel the pinch, far less so than a poor man. Trying to claim it as a war on women makes you look like you can't bear not to be the victims, and is insulting to the poor if you are not one. Maybe you could label them 'the poorz' and claim they are just trying to steal attention away from the real victims here.

And enter another feminist saying 'but feminism IS equalism sillies! See previous, ignored post by me or a hundred others.

DontCallMePeanut · 05/07/2011 14:36

Bull! Women are 50% more likely to be in poverty in the UK than men. So, an attack on the "poorz" Hmm (patronising much) is an attack on women.

Anyway. I have 525 posts to get through. Have a little patience, I'll get to you (again) eventually... Wouldn''t want any inequality, y'know?

Heard you the first time! Grin

MarySueFTW · 05/07/2011 14:44

50% more likely to be poor? Evidence for that one please. And it doesn't matter how you paint it, Tory cuts affect the poor hardest. It doesn't matter how many poor are women, or ethnic, or disabled - it is not an attack pointed squarely at them as claimed. It is aimed at the poor, who all of the previously mentioned may be. The defining factor of those who suffer most is lack of money, not lack of a penis. It is ludicrous to try to pretend it is aimed at women FIRST. And don't be roping in 'children' with women to prove a point, children are not all female. And women may claim child benefit etc, but that is for the children, who are equally mixed sex.

I may be mistaken on the figure; it was from a sociology class last year, and right now, I can't find the notes. but feel free to read this

And I'm sorry, but I don't see how children can be excluded, when women are predominantly the primary, or in many cases, the only carer. What affects these women, affects their children, regardless of gender.

DontCallMePeanut · 05/07/2011 14:55

Thank you, SAF, Grin I was wondering where the rest of the feminists had gone...

feminism equals equalism equals menz issues too honest!

the poor equals women

families equals women

children equals women

Now wonder some people have a problem with 'equalism' when they don't understand what 'equals' means.

"And raising the pension age is down to the basic fact that women live longer?? I dont agree with different retirement ages for the 2 sexes anyway." Although this is true, it's also going to affect women who may have taken early retirement, thinking they could get their pension at 60, but instead have 6 extra years to wait.

You're right wrt CTC, BUT it's a child benefit, thus often relied on by the mother to provide extras for the DC. That's more to do with family heirachies, though.

I do agree with your closing point, HRH. I have no idea on the homeless thing, mind.

All you need to say is yes, this is first an attack on the poor, mainly families, but women will suffer more than men (if that's the point you want to make/all you care about).

Saying it is firstly an attack on women, or an attack aimed squarely at women, is where you enter the realm of hyperbole at the very least. We all know who the Tories are kicking, it's the poor. They work for the rich, who are, unsurprisingly, 100% rich men and women and 0% poor men or women.

DontCallMePeanut · 05/07/2011 15:22

Aha, ty SAF. Not thinking too clearly today. Head is in a milllion other places.

MarySueFTW · 05/07/2011 15:23

"oh jamez/marysue do give over.

how is your husband btw?"

I'm not James. Husband fine. Is this the best you can do, accuse me of being a 'menz'?
