I was on a london to Leeds train sat next to a working Nigella lookalike.

She used the phrase "I will have to give him a good kicking " three times in 10 minutes.

PUSHY? Maybe. Feminine ? my arse.

Can you imagine gabby Logan talking like that?

But we seem to be going towards 200 posts without discussing pushy women of the career type

Discuss

I know some pushy women who are not career types

GabbyLoggon · 02/07/2011 10:20

that would be true. But the ones we notice are the big names who get in the media. Horlick and Meadon, and half a dozen others

So these pushy women of the career type Mr Grubbymoron. What's your take on the whole thing? Should they be allowed? Admired? Rejected? How would you deal with the phenomenon exactly? Elucidate...

You're being derogatory using the word pushy to describe career women. You wouldn't use it to describe a career men. You sound like a sexist old dinosaur. How about these words? -

successful
confident
assertive
self-assured
decisive

GabbyLoggon · 02/07/2011 10:27

WOMANS HOURS does womens subjects well and fairly under Jen Murray.

(who rather suprisingly became a LADY in the honours system)

They said that "women in positions of authority should discip[line themselves NOT to smile. ( I gather femme teachers are told the same...its
a bit odd...but I suppose smiling is not an authority thing.

Jenni Murray became a 'Dame'... do keep up Grubbymoron

GabbyLoggon · 02/07/2011 10:36

Cogito you are in such a depressed mood. Get to a doctor quickly. Or were you drinking turps last night.?? Is it consternation or constipation with you?

OP posts:
CogitoErgoSometimes · 02/07/2011 10:39

I'm sorry Grubbymoron.... I'm simply eager for the debate to start. You know? The one you've been accusing everyone of dodging? I'm anxious to hear what you have to say about 'pushy career women' and also quite interested in how you're going to do that on website aimed at women without being even more horrendously sexist and offensive than normal

The floor is yours..... Educate us, do....

CogitoErgoSometimes · 02/07/2011 10:39

< Brew getting cold emoticon>

Pagwatch · 02/07/2011 10:42

Grin at consternation or constipation.
Mn in a nutshell.

GabbyLoggon · 02/07/2011 10:42

Petisa, petisa, I cannot stop saying Petisa....fair enough but

There are two genders; the female gen is far nicer, kinder, more considerate
than the warring males.

I do no want women to become like us bastard men.

OP posts:
CogitoErgoSometimes · 02/07/2011 10:49

So women must therefore be kind and sweet at all times? Never upset the apple-cart? Not bother their little heads with weighty matters or engage in the nasty world of 'bastard men'?

I disagree. (See, that's what we call 'a debate' now Mr Grubbymoron) Because if women were limited to a passive role we would never have had Jeanne D'Arc, Boudicca, Mrs Pankhurst or Florence Nightingale, each in their own way fighting for what they believed in against the prevailing patriarchy. Changing the world for the better.

petisa · 02/07/2011 10:51

You just breakfasted with a fruitloop, doesn't mean all women are becoming bastards ffs! Put those newspapers down and step away.

Newspapers seek to get us all riled up about "the other", "the enemy" and one right-wing newspaper enemy is the successful, hardworking mother who juggles children and a career. So they tell you she is pushy and evil and it sounds like you've swallowed the story.

Gabbyloggan · 02/07/2011 10:54

You're both right. I realise now what a total dickhead I've been.

petisa · 02/07/2011 11:05
Grin

happy now?

petisa · 02/07/2011 11:07

Agree with coggy btw. Women can be warlike too. Oh dear I think I've been watching too much of Game of Thrones.

petisa · 02/07/2011 11:07

Hmm that's not you, you're not coming up in green Grin

Pagwatch · 02/07/2011 11:08

Well what a lovely outcome. Who is up for brunch?

CogitoErgoSometimes · 02/07/2011 11:10

Stick the coffee on Pagwatch and I'll rustle up some Eggs Florentine with a nice bit of granary toast.

petisa · 02/07/2011 11:19

Great, sounds lovely.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 02/07/2011 11:30

Glass of OJ with that Petisa?

petisa · 02/07/2011 11:34

Oh yes please. I have some strawberries in here, beside my flail. No coco pops through.

Fifis25StottieCakes · 02/07/2011 11:39

Ive got some lovely potato cakes here with a dippy fried egg on the top surrounded by mushrooms

this thread is making me hungry

petisa · 02/07/2011 11:55
