And wish I was a fairy with a vampire boyfriend?

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 28/06/2011 02:34

Yup :) So cute. And Bill has a daughter named Lilac, which I think is pretty.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 28/06/2011 02:45

Well, I'm halfway in, and I'm not impressed! Have we completely diverged from the books now?

LaWeasel · 28/06/2011 08:31

IMO, they are mushing together book 4 and Dead in the Family (way later) there isn't really enough plot in bk4 on it's own...

Also Lafayette is so MINE!! (but wtf has he done with his hair? it's all mr T!)

CareyHunt · 28/06/2011 08:50

I am getting muddled between the books and the show now. I was looking forward to memory loss Eric sex scenes...are we not doing that?

Not loving Jasons beard, but I could forgive him. I liked Bill a bit again...I like him best when he is being a bit of a git tbh.

Eric genuinely makes my stomach flip over when he grins, and I'm an old married lady with loads of kids!

Sookies fecking annoying still...Eric wouldn't really like her Grin.

DH just calls the show 'your vampire porn'!

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 28/06/2011 09:39

I'm pretty sure that the Eric memory thing is the arc for this season - they're just laying the groundwork with the coven atm. I need to reread from the beginning, it's been a while - I can't remember everything!

LaWeasel · 28/06/2011 09:40

I'm sure they said they were doing Eric amnesia. It's just not enough on it's own for a whole series.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 28/06/2011 09:43

I haven't watched since the second series, but going by that I'd definitely entertain Eric. And I wouldn't mind a go with Sam. Never got the Stephen Moyer thing though. It is a very sexy show, generally speaking.

LaWeasel · 28/06/2011 09:47

I love the women on TB, I mean obviously they are all beautiful - but they're quite beautiful in normal ways. No one looks fake.

ILoveYouToo · 28/06/2011 12:52

Saggy "Quite frankly, Id shag pretty much any bloke on the show! grin"
I think you're making a rash statement there Saggy... Grin
"Well, I'm halfway in, and I'm not impressed! Have we completely diverged from the books now?"
IMO they completely diverged from the books at the beginning of series 2. Series 1 was really faithful to the first book (and by far the best series, I think), whereas S2 was massively different; the whole maenad orgy thing I thought was a load of bollocks. Series 3 was better, but still a poor and only distantly related version of the book. For this series, I am determinedly not going to compare the books with the series. Especially as they have meshed in this fairy thing which is tenously lifted from much later on in the series.

Dmitri don't reread the book! If you're anything like me, it'll ruin the series for you! It was my favourite book, so I know it's going to be hard work not comparing.

They are definitely doing the Eric memory loss storyline, although I can see already that it's going to be very different. Grin I've seen a couple of excerpts on youtube (will find in a mo) of that storyline that look rather promising.

LaWeasel "I think they've done green eric and healthy bill to show the switch in power btw." I agree, and I think it's ridiculous that they've 'promoted' him like that. The relationship between Eric and Bill hinges on the power play between them, and now they've reversed it! Hmm

"I love the women on TB, I mean obviously they are all beautiful - but they're quite beautiful in normal ways. No one looks fake." I agree there too. 'Toni's' girlfriend is rather saucy, and Tara is gorgeous (although some of her overacting is hilarious). I like the Tara character for the most part, which bears no resemblance to Tara in the book (not AfricanAmerican for a start), and I love LaFayette, who was killed off at the beginning of book 2.
I agree about the MrT hairstyle though....WTF?? He's put on a few pounds too. I love the relationship with his BF though; some really lovely tender scenes between them.

CareyHunt · 28/06/2011 15:07

Russell Edgington.....I Would.

Blush
ILoveYouToo · 28/06/2011 15:12

Grin Carey I did hesitate before typing his name, because he's a great, quirky actor and he has a certain.... something.

I've got a better one for Saggy following her rash statement..... Tommy and Sam's father.....

I bet you wouldn't! Grin

CheerfulYank · 28/06/2011 15:20

I'd definitely do Sam. I lurve him.

Does no one care that Jace Everett kissed me in his tour bus? NO ONE? Fine!

ILoveYouToo · 28/06/2011 16:16

I've just looked up a picture of him CheerfulYank. He's very cute. Tell us more then! Grin

ILoveYouToo · 28/06/2011 16:18

Sam is such a lovely character in the book; he's Sookie's rock, and is always there for her, ready to help her, worries about her. I was most annoyed when True Blood made him into the arsehole he is at the moment. Sad

CheerfulYank · 28/06/2011 17:33

Ahem. Well. The theme song "I Wanna Do Bad Things With You" came out long before the show. At the time, the radio station and the brewery in my town would put on shows called "Hometown Tours" together and bring up and coming country artists to perform. Jace was one. My roommate worked for the radio station at the time and asked me to help with the concert as they were short-staffed. So I did, and ended up drunk in Jace's tour van/bus thingy. (Details hazy due to inebriation) Anyway, we were hanging out and talking about the blues. It was the end of the night and hot (summertime) and my makeup was all over my face and I made some self-deprecating remark. He said, "you're beautiful" and kissed me. Blush And I told him to back off because I had a boyfriend. :o

So there you have it. He is cute...and that voice!

LaWeasel · 28/06/2011 17:39

Episode 2 has some great Sam moments. I think they've made him more interesting in the show, he's much more complicated, but I like that about everyone in the show - when terrible things happen to them it affects them and the way they behave instead of blithely getting on with it which there is a bit of in the books.

CheerfulYank - that is possible the best sleb story ever.

CheerfulYank · 28/06/2011 17:46

Thanks weasel ! It's so funny too, because I thought I'd never get any mileage out of that story. Then a friend was like "you have to check out True Blood!" The minute the theme came on I started screaming "I kissed this guy! I totally did!" Luckily I'd written about it on my myspace a few years before or they'd never have believed me :o

Mamaz0n · 28/06/2011 17:49

omg the hairs at the back of my neck went up reading that story Yank.

His voice does very weird things to my body.

peggotty · 28/06/2011 17:52

Oh he's a lovely red-head! Don't normally go for red-heads but he's luvverly! So, cheerfulyank, we are going to require a description of this kiss.... Peck on the cheek? Snog? Masterful and hard or gentle?

Mamaz0n · 28/06/2011 18:04

yes yes, more info needed. definitely.

Can't believe you passed up a night with him. Wink

Its more his voice for me. I couldn't care if he looked like a monkeys arse, that voice does it for me.

CheerfulYank · 28/06/2011 18:15

Masterful, quick, on the lips. :) Dry but not too dry, if you know what I mean. Definitely not gross and slobbery.

Lovely. :o

Mamaz0n · 28/06/2011 18:17

he does sound like someone who would be an expert kisser. He knows just how to use that mouth i am sure.

ILoveYouToo · 28/06/2011 18:37

LaWeasel "when terrible things happen to them it affects them and the way they behave instead of blithely getting on with it which there is a bit of in the books." You're right; they do tend to get on with it more in the books. Especially Sookie, who hardly misses a day's work at Merlotte's, despite getting variously beaten up, shot, and numerous narrow escapes with her life! Grin

It's one of the things I like about it though, I think; I wish I was like that, whereas in fact I'm an absolute wuss and would be keening self pityingly for weeks with those sorts of injuries. Blush Grin

I do love the way Sookie develops through the books though; from very naive at the beginning, with a strong christian faith and moral compass, and then has to deal with killing people and how she feels about that/squares it with her feelings about god and morality. The most recent book shows her definitely emotionally scarred, I think.

I guess because the books are first person narrative, they're limited in how deeply they can explore the feelings of the other characters - it's all through her eyes only. That's the strength of the tv series, as you said; they can develop other characters more deeply.

Love the story CheerfulYank! Envy

ILoveYouToo · 28/06/2011 18:38

I was hoping for some tongue action there CheerfulYank... Grin

ILoveYouToo · 28/06/2011 19:00

I've just realised that I should maybe clarify that statement.... I meant in the story, obviously. Blush Grin
