poor dd2 is nearly 4 and doesn't like being 'pretty', she wants to be cool Hmm

She dresses herself and wears batman or spiderman tops out of preference but she really wants a dress or a skirt with them on, which of course I can't find.

Anyone got any links?

And seriously, AIBU to think they could make girls clothes with 'boy' logos that aren't slutty dress up outfits or have had to be handmade.

PPPop You are a genius!

LithaR Sainsbury's was selling Prince costumes as part of their Royal Wedding range - they're always worth looking in if you have one with a clothes section near you. They 're also good for non-pink clothes I find (plus do lots of 25% off sales)

I have just spent 60 quid on stardust. one each of these dresses, the lace for dd1 and the alien for dd2, and then the medusa and alien hoodies.
and some pirate socks.
kwazii, have you seen the dr who dress? it's EPIC!

Ilythia · 25/06/2011 15:39

I am aware she asked for spiderman and batman, but she preferred the alien! She has space rockets on ehr bed, so understandable!

I do like the Dr Who dress, although his sonic screwdriver looks a bit like a ciggie Wink

Grabaspoon · 25/06/2011 16:40

But if Batman wore a skirt/dress then he wouldn't get very far when kicking the baddies ass would he - they would just squeal we can see your knickers etc Grin

YANBU
I am having the same problem with dresses for DD. She wants cool dresses, not girly ones and NOT PINK

PPPop
Fab website, have bookmarked. Thanks.

SocialButterfly · 25/06/2011 18:33

Blimey some of the replies to this are very stereotypical - so girls must wear pink frills and boys blue and never the twain shall meet?

My DD is in to loads of boys stuff and it makes for tricky shopping! I think the point is just because superman is a man doesnt mean girls wouldnt like a dress with him in.

When she was younger I managed to find a pink fleece with bob the builder on but thats the only girls think I have ever found with a boy character on.

The stardust ones are awesome think I may be placing an order too Grin

bubbub · 25/06/2011 18:35

yes! yanbu! my 3 yr old reeeeeally wants a buzz lightyear luchbox. but doesnt want a boys one. her fave colour happens to be pink and purple. her fave hero is buzz. the only choices in her fave colours are fairies, and princesses. its a bit sexist really especially seeing as toy story is very much a unisex film.

YAallBU.

girliefriend · 25/06/2011 18:45

Hello I thoought it was just me that found this to be annoying!!! My dd wants a spiderman or superman top but not from the 'boys' section of the shop - I've had zero luck so far!!!

Primark sell some boys super/spider man t.shirts and I think I'm going to end up getting her one of these and lying stretching the truth about which section of the shop they came from!!!

MigratingCoconuts · 25/06/2011 18:54

wow, one of those hoodies is a don one!! Yess!

well done pppop!

spacecadet1 · 25/06/2011 20:07

havent read all the replies but if you're still looking, I'm sure argos do batgirl, wonder woman & super girl dressing up outfits.

Stangirl · 25/06/2011 20:24

Try Stardust Kids (online store) for cool dresses - pictures of Bruce Lee and Bob Marley on and skull and crossbones etc.

Pinkiemum · 25/06/2011 21:07

I have the opposite problem why don't they make fairy costumes for boys, why do all fairy wings have pink on them fairies in stories are never just girls, I know lot's of little boys who like to wear fairy wings

piprabbit · 25/06/2011 21:08

Pinkiemum, how about one of the Stardust t-shirts with wings on the back?

Pinkiemum · 25/06/2011 21:14

Piprabbit, Haven't seen those can you buy them on the internet, I don't live in England and find that the selection for costumes where in the Netherlands quite bad , was able to get my daughter fairy wings in H&M but they do not seem to cater for little boys.

piprabbit · 25/06/2011 21:18

Angel Wings T-shirts

Also, a selection of non-pink wings here.

piprabbit · 25/06/2011 21:22

Aghhh - just realised the blue wings aren't available.
How about these instead?

2littlegreenmonkeys · 25/06/2011 21:46

Oooooohhhhhh this thread is fabby.

My DD1 loves all things superhero, she wants her bedroom redecorated green with TMNT decor. She is a huge fan of batman and loves spider man and superman. I am going to show her all of the links (I have bookmarked them all Blush) tomorrow so she can choose a dress.

It makes me want to learn how to sew so I can make both of my DD's cool superhero dresses etc Grin

Thank you Ilythia for starting this thread Smile

Ilythia · 26/06/2011 22:37

I am glad all the tomboy mothers are coming out of the woodwork, thought I was a freak for a bit, although I remember being like this when I was a child.
I wanted to wear normal clothes, not dressing up stuff, normal stuff, but with a cool logo, not a fricking fairy, or heart, which was easy in the 80's.

I have a feeling stardust is in for a shock order wise on monday Grin

MigratingCoconuts · 28/06/2011 17:59

I was like that too, Ilythia and was dreaded the possibility of having a 'barbie' DD (I would have been totally out of my depth) but what I hadn't accounted for was genetics Grin

tallulahxhunny · 28/06/2011 18:17

my daughter has a spiderman school bag,. buzz lightyear lunchbox ans a spiderman bike c/w spiderman helmet! she also wears the boys spongebob t-shirts, its a bit Confused when buying her clothes but we are used to people staring at her now. :shrugs

I did go through a period where i thought hmm but shes getting girlier aas in nail polish and dancing etc and when we are on holiday we can even go for a bit of glitter and pink Shock Grin

FagAshLil · 28/06/2011 18:23

Was going to say Stardust kids but been beaten to it!
My SIL bought DD a Marilyn Monroe Tshirt from them when she was a newborn, loved them for her and DS ever since. Brilliant quality as well.

Ilythia · 04/07/2011 09:31

Just coming back to the thread to highly recommend stardust clothes, they arrived the other day. I bought 2 summer dresses and 2 hoodies from the sale, the hoodies are fab, nice thick cotton, not fleece, so warm without being too hot for summer, and the dresses are gorgeous nice thick cotton. In fact, DD2 asked for an alien/space invader blue dress, and it is such nice quality she will be wearing it to a family wedding!
