she text me asking what size shoes dd is cos shes seen some little converse and was gunna buy them for her, dd is 27 months

i replied with "6 but its a lot of money to spend on trainers and tbh she doesnt wear trainers, she likes girly shoes :) "

the reply i got was "ungrateful cow, they arent fucking trainers, they are converse"

i actually thought my reply was ok and didnt want her wasting her money on something that wouldnt be used

You can get girly converse. I've seen some lovely sparkly ones I would like to get DD.

trixymalixy · 25/06/2011 17:15

Oh and your SILs reply was out of order.

Ishani · 25/06/2011 17:24

Would pink converse not been girly enough ?

cat64 call me crazy but I think to not say thank you anyway is unreasonable.

In my world anyway.

Is a shoe size 6 normal for a 2 year old? My DS is 4 and a half and has just grown in to a size 7 - has he got tiny feet as I thought that was an average size for his age?

DD will be 2 in august and she is a 4.5. 6 does sound big.

diddl · 25/06/2011 17:58

OP-does your SIL do this a lot?

My sister loves shopping for herself & whenever I see her she´s always wanting to treat me or for me to treat myself.

I hate it.

She never hears "no".

GreenEyesandHam · 25/06/2011 18:02

Text or mail or carrier pigeon, please and thank you are BASIC good manners.

IWillCountToThree · 25/06/2011 18:16

My DD1 had quite large feet, her first shoes were a size 5 and at 7.6 she's going into an adult size 2.

DS is 21m and a 6.5.

My girls wouldn't have chosen converse to wear either, and they are extortionate for something she'll have outgrown in 6w (ish).

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 25/06/2011 18:25

Meh, you were rude, she got ruder.

my 22month old got her first converse last week. i think they're very girly, though the shop assistants were sneering and trying to force some fugly burgundy patent leather buckle up wintery things. errr, no thanks. she wants to bounce about, not go to school.

re:OP yeah you did sound ungrateful. its a hard conversation to have by text, and i do understand wanting to stop someone wasting their money. but generally i just say thank you, thats very generous. so what if she wears them 3 times when your sis is about and then 'oh no, outgrown'.

CinnabarRed · 25/06/2011 23:36

MIL is always buying clothes I don't like for my DSs. I smile, thank her and then dress the boys in those clothes because they were bought with much love and kindness. The boys are comfortable and that's all that matters.

DS1 is 3.7 years and is size 10. DS2 is 14 months and size 5.

WinkyWinkola · 25/06/2011 23:48

Hmm. Sorry, even being bought with much love and kindness doesn't mean I'll dress my dcs in clothes I think ming.

I'll certainly take a photo of them in them and send them to the kind person who sent them but that's it really.
