my nan says always rewash, but my mum says its okay but what if it has repeatedly rained i.e the last couple of days. Its only a duvet cover but when would you rewash?

Hang them up over the clothes horse that is.

Shinyshoes1 · 24/06/2011 23:30

Mines out has been for 3 days.

It's wet, it dries, it gets wet, it dries, it gets wet again and now it's meant to be a 'heatwave' so it'll dry.

I have had my washing in the machine waiting to go out for 2 days.

It's only fucking rain, we ain't made of sugar paper and AFAIK there is no allergy to rain so it's not gonna hurt anyone or their PFB Grin

EndoplasmicReticulum · 24/06/2011 23:36

3 days? I couldn't have it out that long, there'd be a backlog. Mine dries in a day hung over the airer indoors. Have never considered leaving it out overnight as an option.

TheNoodlesIncident · 24/06/2011 23:36

We have dirty rain here. Everything left out in the garden (perfectly clean) has specks of dirt in the water when it has rained. I've noticed it lots of times when I've cleaned out the pirate galleon, refilled it with clean water and then seen the dirt in it after rainfall.

We must be badly polluted around here. This is why my windows are always filthy too and not because I rarely wash them

I don't hang washing out much anyway, the tumble drier gets my laundry soft and fluffy.

usualsuspect · 24/06/2011 23:37

I leave mine out overnight because I can't be bothered to fetch it in

EndoplasmicReticulum · 24/06/2011 23:38

Noodles.

You have a pirate galleon? How do you find time to do washing when you should be off plundering?

usualsuspect · 24/06/2011 23:40

pirate galleon?

Fucking hell I'm impressed,Have you got Captain Jack Sparrow in there?

TheNoodlesIncident · 24/06/2011 23:48

Plundering is so last year. Nowadays I'm busy pretending the pirates on board are Captain Jack Sparrow and meself, marooned amidst a grimy garden. I can do it with all the time I've saved not pegging out washing (what with having to organise the peg colours and all that gubbins) or washing windows

wileycoyote · 24/06/2011 23:49

Never ever. I can assure you rainwater is much cleaner than the water in your washing machine.. I recently had some rainwater analysed..

How DID you guess?!

Mummywalsh · 25/06/2011 01:40

Thanks ladies, as you can imagine the cover is still out there and guess what its still raining. Tbh I brought in all the washing days ago and have hung and dried other loads since but that just keeps getting passed over. Must be a generation thing though because nan also says no overnight drying. Have only had a garden for six months so v.disappointed its the middle of June and still drying racks everywhere. Old place had a massive long bannister always ideal for sheets etc. but no luxury here - besides the garden I mean.

Yes it is definatly a generation thing. My dear old Nan would never have left her washing out overnight, it was always washed in the morning, dried during the day, then ironed in the evening.
Yet if I decide to do a wash at 6pm it goes out overnight, sometimes 2!

TheMagnificentBathykolpian · 25/06/2011 08:56

I don't.

In fact, the washing smells even MORE gorgeous if it's been rained on.

However, we do live in the Derbyshire Dales. If we lived next door to a chemical plant, it would be different. Grin

LadyBeagleEyes · 25/06/2011 10:56

It stays out till it dries. That could be some time but it'll stop raining eventually.
We also have lovely clean rain, I live in a remote part of the Highlands.
