To have such a weird phobia?!

I am terrified of nautical things, old style diving suits and ship figureheads being top of my list, I actually feel sick and dizzy if I know one is nearby, do you have any weird ones?

Why? Confused

Still trying to get my head round the protocols on this site!

I can never remember when it is that you have to ask the sex of the poster. Is it when you particularly disagree
with them? or is it for some other reason that I just can't remember at the moment.

My mother is frightened of the seeds in peppers by the way

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 23/06/2011 21:44

OP have you ever been to Arts et Metiers metro station in Paris?

misty0 · 23/06/2011 21:45

Craneflys!

God the way they suddenly diddle around your head in the evening when your sat minding your own business! Eurg. All those legs ..... and they just .... wont .... die no matter what you hit them with!

toomanyopinions · 23/06/2011 21:45

I Hate 'over-stirrers'. If I hear someone give their tea or coffee (or God Forbid 'cause it takes a bit of a stir...Cupa Soup...) too many repititions it friggin' gets my goat! I sit in the staff room in work on the constant brink of "FFS shall I do it for you????!!!!!!!! I know it is irrational and apart from this I'm pretty chilled! Especially Coffee with no sugar- for the love of God- it mixes itself!!!!!!! < holds down twitchy eyebrow >... I need a G&T after that!!!

WinterSnow · 23/06/2011 21:46

I'm scared to click on it... What is it?!

Oh misty0, with you on Craneflys/ Daddy Long Legs!

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 23/06/2011 21:47

archieleach - I relate very well to your mothers fear of pepper seeds, strawberry seeds are bad too, the way they are just all THERE, COVERING the damned thing, they are just waiting to cover my tongue or my skin and oh boy i need to leave now and go outside im itching.

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 23/06/2011 21:48

Oh, it shouldn't freak you out too much, I've not gone into any of the images just in case. It's an underground station made out of copper, a bit themed with port holes, but no actual freaky stuff on show (and I understand your fear to be honest).

archieleach · 23/06/2011 21:48

gingerbread men
dads
chefs
raffia work

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 23/06/2011 21:50

I had an ex with many irrational fears, including:

Thin paper (the thinner the more scary)
Thin edges meeting each other, eg. paper's edge touching another piece of paper, or fingernails touching at the edge
Lumps and bumps
Testicles (last two were particularly bad when I found a lump... :( )

superjobeespecs · 23/06/2011 21:52

sticky tape Blush tape, plasters, stickers anything 'tacky' it makes me shake and hurl into my mouth (sorry tmi!!) i can use sticky tape at xmas and birthdays within reason but i have to prepare for days in advance that its not gonna be stuck to me its not attacking me etc and plasters when DDs hurt herself but very fast and i cant touch the actual sticky bit. DD knows to take her school stickers off before we get in the house as they are not welcome.

completely irrational fear it just materialised about 10 yrs ago i started to freak whenever i was near the stuff..

MrsSheeran · 23/06/2011 21:52

Cotton wool, I hate the noise it makes and just thinking about it makes me feel sick, just cannot bear to touch it!

archieleach · 23/06/2011 21:52

TakeMeDrunkImHome
Yes they are right little bastards aren't they. Not sure they're really going to jump out at you and onto your tongue though. Mind you they do get about a bit on the chopping board don't they.

vintageteacups · 23/06/2011 21:53

Mine are boring phobia's; wasps and dying.

I'm not sure I know anyone else with a fear of dying (I don't just mean scared of when they are about to die but actually living their life in a way to minimise dying at all times as well as that of the children). I need therapy Grin

archieleach · 23/06/2011 21:56

Nothing is funnier that other people's phobias, with the accent on other.

archieleach · 23/06/2011 21:58

vintageteacups
What about dying and coming back as a wasp?
AHHHHHHH
and then being attacked by other wasps until you die and then coming back as a human being and....

WinterSnow · 23/06/2011 21:58

superjobeespecs - they say fear of stickers comes from getting stickers at the dentist as a child!

OP posts:
vintageteacups · 23/06/2011 21:59

archie then I could chase all of the other people with wasp phobias Grin

archieleach · 23/06/2011 21:59

MrsSheeran
Do not look at this:
Oh I forgot links don't work

kaiteysmumma · 23/06/2011 22:00

I have a phobia of seaweed. Bloody horrible stuff. Slimy and slippery and it gravitates towards me like it wants to wrap itself around my throat and drag me to the bottom.
/shudders

WinterSnow · 23/06/2011 22:01

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops - that station is horrible, I couldn't go there!!!

OP posts:
archieleach · 23/06/2011 22:01

stickers at the dentist? wtf
Why didn't I get any stickers?

Psammead · 23/06/2011 22:02

I get very panicked by loose hair. If a hair gets stuck to me in the shower for example, or if I hair falls out of my head whilst I am playing with it then it freaks me out. I stay calm for a little while, but more than a few seconds and I panic. It's the feel of it. It's worst if it goes onto my foot. Argh.
