I did it for a while; with fairly serious joke stuff. It usually seems to be used frivolously.

for twitter don't think about people, think about SUBJECTS you are interested in, politics, TV, sport, eastenders, slebs, stamp collecting, economics, parenting, schools, naked cycling, whatever rocks your boat

Then follow people and companies who tweet about those SUBJECTS.

twitter is not about what people had for breakfast (unless you are obsessed with breakfasts, in which case there are no doubt tweeters out their for that as well)
