To have told my friend to fuck off and mind her own buisness

I don't think IABU here. Was talking pocket money, my DD gets £10 a week which she saves in the bank and £5 each of her grandparents.
My friend said it was too much money for a 10 yr old. She saves most of it and doesn't buy crap so told friend to fuck off and keep opinions to herself.

'told friend to fuck off and keep opinions to herself' ....And then posted on aibu to ask for our opinionConfused

Pumpernickel10 · 20/06/2011 13:41

Ok should have stated from the begining, shes always nit picking on me and is a bully, things came to ahead today and I snapped, shes called me fat in the past, taken the piss out of my husband, and basically is not a nice person,so when she said that I told her to fuck off and mind her own business as I was sick of her nasty opinions, last week she said if my DD did not have braces she would be ugly, this is from a woman who does not have children.
So I snapped

We call it pocket money but yes it get saved for her,so shes got a next egg when shes older, surely theres nothing wrong with saving for your children.

that's alot of money for a ten year old, i should pace yourself love, when the kid is 15 she want a fortune off of you each week, nice gesture from grandparents though, i would put their contribution into a savings account for that first car etc, but to tell friend to F off is a bit much for such a trivial discussion!

LDNmummy · 20/06/2011 13:43

Ah I see, toxic friend. Fair enough, but the pocket money is still excessive, so maybe she had a point here?

fatlazymummy · 20/06/2011 13:45

The thing is if you tell someone something then you do make it their business. Of course she is going to express her opinion which you don't need to agree with of course, but why not say so politely?

LDNmummy · 20/06/2011 13:45

Then your daughter is a lucky girl and hopefully she will appreciate it in the future when it is there to help her.

susiedaisy · 20/06/2011 13:45

just read your last few posts about the 'friend' i would ease her out of your life if she is always trying to put you down or undermine you.

BulletWithAName · 20/06/2011 13:46

Drip feed much?

Pumpernickel10 · 20/06/2011 13:46

yes I did tell her to f off, probably harsh but last weeks comment about DD being ugly and today just set me off. I am not a nasty friend and have always supported her but her comments are getting worse and I have even defended her with other friends.

thegruffalosma · 20/06/2011 13:47

You should have told her to fuck off when she said your daughter was ugly.

Hullygully · 20/06/2011 13:48

pore ol pumper

Pumpernickel10 · 20/06/2011 13:48

I know its alot of money but she can't touch it til shes older, she knows that.
Its just a nest egg for her future in case she wants to go to uni or something or buy a car. We are far from rich but her future is important to us.

OP posts:
ShirleyKnot · 20/06/2011 13:49

She sounds unhinged. Did she actually say "Your daughter is ugly"?!

Because...

....

Bloodymary · 20/06/2011 13:49

Well, I WAS going to say YABU, but having just read what she said about your DD, I happen to think you were quite restrained!

Pumpernickel10 · 20/06/2011 13:50

gruffolas I told her then to keep her mouth shut, she is toxic sadly and as said awful things in the past but before I tended to bite my tongue.

OP posts:
SuePurblybilt · 20/06/2011 13:52

Did she actually come out and say your DD is ugly? Who are these people? I think you're v restrained for not having bopped her one then.

Get rid Smile

Pumpernickel10 · 20/06/2011 13:52

Yes she did shirley she said are you going to sort out your DD teeth,I said why would I shes lovely teeth, she said well she goofy I would sort them out as she will be ugly if you don't.

OP posts:
Insomnia11 · 20/06/2011 13:53

Depends really whether it's being paid into a bank account or child trust fund or given to the child. We and GP have paid money into DDs accounts monthly since they were born. DD1 gets £1 a week pocket money (she is nearly 6) which she puts into a piggy bank but uses for school trip spending money or buying the odd item herself.

WhoAteMySnickers · 20/06/2011 13:53

Drip, drip, drip.

If she's that bad then why are you friends with her? Cut all ties, get rid, delete her number.

Pumpernickel10 · 20/06/2011 13:54

susie thats what we did its in a savings account, for 1st car or uni fees. I am just thinking ahead for the future that all.

OP posts:
Pumpernickel10 · 20/06/2011 13:55

I know snickers I wanted to cut her out before but her DP left her so I felt sorry for her.
