to explain, the court staff tended to be middle class. But the defendants were mostly working class. Cant they catch the middle class wrongdoers. ? (I only only ask the questions....vicky derbyshire would like to be a judge

I will telly you a good story from our court. A case involved a chap in a bar giving the wanker hand signol to an enemy. The judgesummed up "well members of the juryif you did not know what a wanker was before you do after mr smiths splendid demonstartion" It brought the house down

When you say "our" court, whose do you mean??

K999 · 19/06/2011 20:58

And pray tell, what is the moral of that story?

That you'll be prosecuted for gods sake. so don't point out gabbys illogical ramblings or else.

K999 · 19/06/2011 21:33

Yes, GabbyLogOff is slightly hard to comprehend....even when I'm sober....Grin

thebestisyettocome · 19/06/2011 21:47

Lots of working-class people work in the court system. Many train as solicitors, barristers, clerks to the court. However, because they are professionals and conduct themselves in that manner it may appear to the casual observer that they are middle-class.

bringmesunshine2009 · 19/06/2011 21:59

Ha not seen the list callers at Thames MC recently then.

The working classes make up the bulk? No they bloody don't. The claiming classes unfortunately. JSA and Income Support claimants make up the bulk of attendees.

They DO get legal aid. If you earn more than tuppence, forget it.

Middle classes do get a look in, but certainly aren't majority (an are a pain in the neck to boot).

Why? Endless reasons, it's expensive to be honest, normalisation of petty crime, frustrating to be poor, sense of entitlement (thinking more of the youths there).

TheStallionOfSensibleness · 19/06/2011 22:37

Lol " list callers"?! You mean ushers

Gabby this thread makes no sense whatsoever in fact I wonder why I am bothering to read it? I find it rather strange however that you have taken exception to a poster saying they are sexist and ageist yet you have no problem with racism? I refer to your earlier post "random micks and scottish" what? Do you have any idea how insulting this is? Do us all a favour and take your insanse posts elsewhere

GabbyLoggon · 20/06/2011 09:30

If you use words like dementia and against a poster here. You will not be tolerated by the system because

A....if it was true true should not be saying it.

B....if it was untrue you should not be saying it.

I have used every national newspaper, many message boards. MUMSNET is by far the most tolerant of all kinds of opinions... But they have there limits. I have had a mumsnet tower lecture. I accept them as very reasoanble.
Enjoy it, try not to abuse it.

thanks

moral of the judge wanker story....the reason it was funny was that a judge used a word like wanker. Judges are steeped in latin kidder

OP posts:
GabbyLoggon · 20/06/2011 09:37

It makes sense because I have taken the trouble to go to court and study the sysem Best courts in the world. ?They kid themselves. Now what have you dear critic done to study the court system you may well live under. ?

Sparkeyeyes? maybe, non sparky logic? Certainly

The new law in Scotland is unfortunate, but it's not due to a majority. The hate and death threats against Neil Lennon have to be dealt with. The general banter between the Glasgow rivals will continue, but I support a law which could help weed out the fucking idiots who play with lives by trying to send bombs through the post.

GabbyLoggon · 20/06/2011 09:41

If your grammar oly stretches to a few words. Then please leave me out of your limitations. (It does not make you a bad person) Just one who does not love the english language.... NOW COME ON IF YOU HAVE STUDIED THE COURT SYSTEM OR WORK FOR IT.,,,,,thai is what the thread is all about ?Not whether stewart Lee is funnier than William Connolly.

OP posts:
GeekCool · 20/06/2011 09:45

Gabby do you even proof read? I sincerely wish you would, it's murder trying to disect your ramblings posts.

GabbyLoggon · 20/06/2011 09:46

JURIES They are fairly impressive. They do let off a lot of male rapists in England. Discuss

OP posts:
GabbyLoggon · 20/06/2011 09:49

People who demean mumsnet by diversions on punctuation, spelling, proof reading have NO REAL INTEREST in the subject under discussikon They may even be grammar snobs. Discuss.

Excuse me, you were the one who said:

which I think entitles anyone to comment on your own posts.
Also, do you wish for a discussion or will you just tell everyone else they are wrong?

Snorbs · 20/06/2011 09:56

People who exhibit an inability to logically follow an argument through to its conclusion and who cannot even be bothered to structure their random thoughts into coherent paragraphs have NO REAL INTEREST in the subject under discussion. They may even just be trolling. Discuss.

GabbyLoggon · 20/06/2011 09:57

Geek ? Have you taken a serious interest in the English court system? It goes better if the posters are interested in the subject under discussion.

OP posts:
GeekCool · 20/06/2011 10:03

Well as I live in Scotland the English justice system interests me but doesn't apply as much.
I'm not sure you can solely blame juries for rapists being let off, I think the laws, the police and the allow questioning should also be taken into consideration. Plus the patriarchial nature of the country.

Snorbs · 20/06/2011 10:45

I do have an interest in the court system. I have attended court on a number of occasions for varying reasons (albeit thankfully never as the accused) plus I have friends who are legal professionals.

I would quite like to engage in the actual discussion but your posts - taken both individually and as a collection of supposedly related points - are so very far from coherent that I haven't got a fucking clue what it is you're trying to say.

Mumsnet Talk is a written medium. English is a language with a long and (largely) glorious history of being both subtle and powerful enough to express ideas and thoughts of any kind. There are a great many posters on mumsnet who write eloquently and with charm and wit. To read messages such as yours amongst the thoughtful writings of others is akin to attending a choral concert and unfortunately finding yourself sat next to someone who periodically decides to try to fart along with the tune. Badly.

I've got a lot of tolerance for people with issues such as dyslexia that make it hard for them to express their thoughts in writing. Your posts, however, look like you've had some chance spark from one synapse to another and then you proceed to randomly smash your face into your keyboard.

Proof-read what you write. Use punctuation too. More importantly, think about what idea it is you wish to convey before you try to write it down. It's not difficult. To just throw words together in the vague hope that others can make sense of your rambling nonsense is quite rude.

GeekCool · 20/06/2011 10:55

I almost guffawed there. Not attractive.
