I think I saw a fairy once. Just wondered what your experiences were.

Lat year I was having treatment for cancer and one day after my radiotherapy I was on my way home when this guy came up to me. He was well presented, with a turban and quite a long beard (a Sikh, I'm guessing), clean, smart shirt under a waistcoat type thing. The first thing he said to me was "You are going to be well in August". I was taken aback and asked him to repeat. In the ensuing conversation he said the following things that were true:

  1. I had had a crappy couple of years (true-ish, a family fall out in 20008 which resulted in being estranged from my dad, diagnosis Xmas 2009 and feeling not quite right for a long while before that and just generally swimming through mud);
  2. I had recently won some money. The week before I had got mildly lucky on the premium bonds. Grin
  3. I have a connection to India (true - family by marriage)

He then wrote something on a piece of paper and scrumpled it up and gave it to me to hold. He then asked me the following questions:

  1. How many children have I got? (2)
  2. What is my favourite colour? (purple)
  3. Think of a number between 1 and 100 (5)

He then asked me to read the paper on which was written...

2
PURPLE
5

I still have it and carry it with me every day in my purse and look at it on days when life seems scary.

WriterofDreams · 20/06/2011 15:19

Wow monkey that is super super weird. Were you really freaked out, or did it seem nice to you?

cakesandale · 20/06/2011 15:20

Blimey monkey that IS odd.

Hope you are OK now. But then, I guess I know the answer from the gent in the turban! In which case, woo hoo!

WriterofDreams · 20/06/2011 15:23

The only vaguely weird thing that happened to me was that a neighbour of mine stopped me on the road when I was 15 and said she'd seen me in town the previous day and I hadn't said hello. I hadn't been in town and I told her that then brushed it off as a mix up. The following day my aunt said she'd seen me in town on the same day as my neighbour. I definitely wasn't in town and was a bit weirded out at this stage. I was proper freaked when a friend of mine also said she'd seen me in town on the same day. Either I have a doppleganger or I walked around town while in an altered state of consciousness! Either way pretty weird.

MonkeyJungleConga · 20/06/2011 15:25

It was really weird. It left me totally stunned and still freaks me out. But it came at a point when I was pretty low and scared and was incredibly helpful in giving me hope.

My mum had a strange experience when she was working for the VSO in India.

She had done a lot of work in on particular village and had become very friendly with the villagers. They day before she left to come back to the UK, they invited her to join in a celebration in the village and to meet their shaman who was staying with them for the celebration.

She was ushered into a smoke-filled hut where the shaman was officiating, and invited to ask him for a gift to remember India by- she was told that she could ask for whatever she wanted.

She asked for a white calf, and after a few moments, one appeared out of the smoke and was presented to her.

There are no shortages of White calves in villages in India, so it is not at all strange that they were able to produce one seemingly out of thin air.

The strange thing is- what the hell made her ask for a white calf only a few hours before she was due to get on a plane to the UK?

I thought I saw a fairy once. It had pretty wings and two legs. But then I saw it again and realised it was an insect with two long things at the end of its body. sigh.

I saw a ghost on a horse when I was eight. The horse reared and made a weird noise and I ran like fuck.

When I lived in a very old flat (18th century) i came running out of my front door one only to find myself surrounded by a semi circle of people. They were on a ghost tour and my house was on it!

msbuggywinkle · 20/06/2011 16:03

This was pretty recent. I have a friend who I'm close to, but don't see often.

She sent me a message recently telling me to poas because in every dream she'd had for a week I'd been standing in the background glowing. She didn't know we were TTC. I'd poas the previous week and it had been negative. Tried again and I'm now 15 weeks with DC3!

She since then has dreamed that this DC is a boy with blonde hair, can't wait to find out if she's right!

cakesandale · 20/06/2011 16:10

Blimey!

YaMaYaMa · 20/06/2011 16:12

(pasted from another thread as I'm lazy)

A few years ago when we all still lived at home, me and my mum were sitting in the front room having coffee one morning. Dad, brother and sister were in work. As we were talking we saw my sister walk up the path and heard her key in the door, the door open, her run up the stair and then heard her bedroom door shut.

I went and put the kettle on to make her a coffee too and then me and mum sat and waited for her to come down. And waited some more. Then I called up but no answer. I went upstairs to make sure she was ok and realised she wasnt in the house. Me and Mum were really freaked out. She came in about an hour later and looked like this Shock when we told her.

It happened again a few weeks later, except I didnt hear her bedroom door shut that time. If anyone would like to venture any explantion for this, I would be very happy to hear it as it was very disconcerting Grin

When I was 16 I was walking to tesco with my boyfriend's sister at 3am. We were walking beside a pretty desolate drain and out of nowhere a little boy appeared dressed in shorts and a t-shirt (bear in mind it was 3am and middle of winter). He didn't seem cold at all, was just dawdling along with a stick in his hand. When he saw us he smiled and said hello. We looked at each other and then said hello back. He walked past us. Boyfriend's sister turned to me and said "what the fuck??" and we both giggled in a way that only teenage girls can. We then looked back to see where he was heading and there was nobody there. Nowhere to hide for miles, nowhere he could have gone where we wouldn't have been able to see him in the distance. Have never forgotten it.

SupersonicDave · 20/06/2011 16:16

Loving these!

When I was about 14/15 I was walking down this lane near my house when I saw this bloke walking towards me. He was dressed in a cream and orange striped blazer, cream trousers, old fashioned shoes and old fashioned hat, ( a bit like Dick van dyke in Mary Poppins when they go into the park) it was just really odd and he smiled at me as he went past, as though it was totally ordinary. It was a lane that really didn't lead anywhere.

I've told this one on mn before.

When we lived in south africa we were driving down a road and came to one of these roadside stalls where they sell stuff, carved masks and boxes and the like - tourist tat basically. Grin anyway me and my sister bought a carved box each - I distinctly remember mine. I had no use for it really so took it home and put it in my bedroom. shortly after I put two pieces of paper in it with addresses of two friends on them. that was all that was in the box.

Those two people died within a week of each other. Shock

coincidence perhaps, but it freaked me out no end and I got rid of the box.

DaisyDaresYOU · 20/06/2011 16:45

I know.I did refuse but she said it does really have to be done though she said she couldn't force me.

DoodledGirl · 20/06/2011 16:47

Didn't happen with my second Daisy - very small cut with him.

DaisyDaresYOU · 20/06/2011 16:47

Lol yeah thats true Grin

wannaBe · 20/06/2011 16:48

another one - a couple of years ago I had a really vivid dream about dh's best friend. I drempt he knocked on the door and when I opened it he practically fell into my arms and said "oh god, everything's such a mess." in the dream he was in real trouble - didn't go into details but was quite distraught.

At the time I said to dh that he really should call his friend as it had been a while since we'd spoken to them. Dh said he would.

Then about four days later I had exactly the same dream again.

So the next day I called him, and when I asked how he was he said, "oh god the past year has just been such a mess." turned out he and his family were going through a horrendous time, but he was too proud to call..
