...and always have been?

Lyrically and musically they are shite. But they do put on an 'ooh' and 'ahh' spectacular show. Therefore they provide entertainment for those types of people who only go to one live music event every couple of years. My friends at work all went and admittedly they know nothing about 'proper' music but enjoyed the whole experience and pretending they were 15 again.

LineRunner · 17/06/2011 15:42

The one who ate all the pies
The one who thought he was in Oasis after he'd eaten all the drugs
The one who ate all the girlfriends
The one who ended up DJ-ing in Ibiza
The one who's the cousin of that bloke off of Blind Date

LineRunner · 17/06/2011 15:46

I actually own a significant portion of their back catalogue, to be honest.

dolldaggabuzzbuzz · 17/06/2011 15:50

linerunner How embarrassing! I hope you namechanged for that post!

I am going to see Ian Anderson later on in the year...

...i am not going to see Take That Hmm

HTH

SherlockMoans · 17/06/2011 15:51

If you are 14 YANBU to think your opinion on music is the definitive opinion that how you are at that age, if you are older/adult then YABU - there are songs/artists who I adore but as an adult I appreciate that not only have 80-90% of the population never heard of them a good percentage wouldnt get it either.

My brother often raves on about how something is wonderful "oh yes x is a great singer" I will listen and go Hmm (to myself) "I guess he is if you compare him to a yowling cat"....musical taste is objective - sublime to one person is hideous to another.

I mean Lady GaGa what is that about (Madonna Lite) but hey a large proportion of of people disagree. No point me clicking on any conversation about music on here I would just go Hmm really!!!!!!

Doll No, no namechange! I think we all have to face up bravely to ownership of various back catalogues and in my case it includes a vinyl LP of the ill-fated Glitter Band.

welshbyrd · 17/06/2011 16:32

Agreed they are poop!!!!!!!

For all those Take That are shit campaigners

At the Millennium Stadium last night

Gary Barlow's trousers split on stage, right up the arse
Tis true my friend was there

LineRunner · 17/06/2011 16:34

Does Gary wear them... tight, then?

happyscouse · 17/06/2011 16:51

OP yanbu in expressing the opinion that you don't like Take That..Your perogative. However for the record Take That dont mime. They have sold 1.76 million tickets for this tour at 27 Uk venues...yes of course some will go to competitions VIPs etc but dont all bands do this? The award for most pompous comment goes to poppygolucky people who dont like'proper' music go to TT concerts...er that would be the music you like then! I agree with all the posters who say music is a personal taste issue no rights or wrongs..I've seen Take that live on many occasions..they put on a fantastic show IN MY OPINION...and are up there with the many other 'proper' bands i've been to see over the years.

3boys5pets · 17/06/2011 17:26

The person who thinks the first 20 rows are VIPs has clearly never been to a Take That show! I could tell you where at Wembley or the O2 they would be, but it's not the first 20 rows at the front!

ddubsgirl · 17/06/2011 17:28

it was me that said that, only as other shows i have been to have beed the 1st 20 rows etc for the vip tickets.

ddubsgirl · 17/06/2011 17:29

and only time i have seen tt was at smash hits poll winners party 1993 lol

TobyLerone · 17/06/2011 17:31

YANBU.

Was never a massive fan (although I will admit to a few drunken nights singing along to 'Never Forget' or 'Relight My Fire' in some misguided attempt at irony), but now they're just shit.

The songs are awful, they sound bad and therefore are horribly overproduced, and the hysterical middle-aged women are just embarrassing.

sharbie · 17/06/2011 17:34

everything is tight on gary barlow linerunner

they are dreadful - correct me if i am wrong but didn't they split up the first time due to lack of interest/falling sales....?

so the fans went off them once ...

mumnotmachine · 17/06/2011 17:36

I like their early stuff, not so keen on the later stuff, some of Robbies stuff is ok but he's arrogant, but can get away with it.

But the concert on Wednesday was fantastic, thery are very good showmen!!

lazylula · 17/06/2011 17:36

Of course yanbu to think that, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and likes and dislikes. Personally, I like them and am looking forward to seeing them in July. It is the second concert I have ever been to, the other one was a Take That one too when I was nearly 16. Choice of music is definitely personal.

mumnotmachine · 17/06/2011 17:37

They are all looking tired and drained mind you- esp Gary Barlow, he looked very thin and scraggy

Jagsy · 17/06/2011 17:38

Agree with zukiecat, can't see the fuss about the Beatles myself, but as said above, each to their own! I can't wait to go to the TT concert, they put on an amazing show.

BulletWithAName · 17/06/2011 17:39

YANBU. They're the definition of fucking shit!

carocaro · 17/06/2011 17:40

GO wash your mouth out you evil woman!

BlooferLady · 17/06/2011 17:43

It's the 43 year old women scrawling their mobile numbers on their best La Senza knicks and getting ratted on cheap pinot at the concerts that get my goat. Grow up and get into Puccini, lame-os

3boys5pets · 17/06/2011 17:45

Gary Barlow can't win! Makes a change to hear him called thin I suppose....

I actually think it's just as well so many people don't like them - I can only imagine how much MORE of a complete nightmare tickets release day would be if x more millions were trying to buy! (That would be trying to buy tickets for their record-breaking tour. Following their record-breaking album).

MakemineaGandT · 17/06/2011 17:47

YANBU - they are rubbish. They weren't cool the first time around, and they certainly aren't cool now. Their music is tedious. I just don't understand what people see in them!
