Who can not even make a speech? Should she be able to make a speech being married with Prince William?

sassyminder & Spenguin don't you know that some quarters consider it is heresy to say anything disparaging about the Duchess? If you say anything which criticises, apparently you are jealous of her?

Spenguin · 15/06/2011 22:34

I actually think the sister is getting it way worse!

I couldn't give a flying about her arse!

Bandwitch · 15/06/2011 22:36

a speech about what?

NOBODY is a real life Barbie. That's a stupid thing to say about anybody who is real and human.

chicletteeth · 15/06/2011 22:36

Spenguin, she's been married for about 8 weeks.
She's got 50 odd years left of it.
How much more of a role do you want to have seen her played thus far. Please elaborate.

Even most employers allow a new employee to settle in for longer than this, or at least this long, before giving them important public engagements/speeches roles of any kind.

Spenguin · 15/06/2011 22:39

Erm, weren't they dating since forever?!

I would just like to hear her voice! It's lovely that she looks pleasant and glad to be in places performing her ceremonial role and hand-shaking etc. It's just almost frustrating! You see her smile and laugh...and then...no sound!

With so much media frenzy, her lack of a voice (metaphorical and literal) is almost doing her an injustice.

PamBeesly · 15/06/2011 22:39

I don't think sassy was being disparaging I think she was making an observation, albeit premature.

chicletteeth · 15/06/2011 22:39

Agree Spenguin re Pippa.

She is an annoying to say the very least and I too don't give a flying fig about her arse.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 15/06/2011 22:40

Spenguin I agree, and I'm sure she will, in time. But she needs time to decide what to support. They were only engaged a short time so I'm sure that only now are charities etc starting to approach her.

I would far rather that she waits until she has something informed to say on a subject, rather than speak for the sake of it about nothing in particular.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 15/06/2011 22:42

Yes they were dating forever, but you don't take on an official role when you are only the girlfriend!
No charities could approach her because that would have been seen as making loads of assumptions.

Spenguin · 15/06/2011 22:42

Heck, I couldn't care less about the 'gold-digging social climber' comments. I say good for them! Just because you were born to certain people doesn't make you divine...at least not in my book.

Also, does anyone else think the sisters look a lot older than they are?

chicletteeth · 15/06/2011 22:45

Yes they've been together forever.

Not allowed to use her royal connections when just dating though.

Now she's married, it's different because she's, err royalty.

So you just want to hear her voice then...........

chicletteeth · 15/06/2011 22:46

See, me I don't care if I hear her voice at all ever, but I don't consider that to be a problem

Spenguin · 15/06/2011 22:47

No, I want her to have a role...that isn't one of decoration.

She didn't have to be the face of a charity whilst dating. She could have been present and 'alive and kicking' over the last year or so - or, at least since engagement.

Spenguin · 15/06/2011 22:47

Meh, guess I want to grab her and 'go on, girl! Fucking do something and show people you can be someone!'

and then try not to get all Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act 2/Dead Poets Society.

OurPlanetNeptune · 15/06/2011 22:48

why on earth is Pippa annoying chicletteeth. Would it not have been more reasonable to say you find the media coverage of Pippa annoying. She cannot help it if they follow her. She cannot even have a go at paparazzi now because to do so may cause difficulties and embarrassment for her sister. It seems very hypocritical of you.

For what its worth, I think the courtiers are mindful to not repeat the mistakes made when Princess Diana was first introduced to public life. I think in time the Duchess will find her feet (and her voice).

Nancy66 · 15/06/2011 22:49

I learnt that she smokes 40 a day today - which makes me like her more (for some reason)

chicletteeth · 15/06/2011 22:50

Again, can't be seen to be pomping things up because she 'might' marry the future King.
That just won't do will it.

Alibaba has it spot on.

Anyway, why does she have to be alive and kicking? Of course she's had nothing to plan since getting engaged has she Hmm. Don't envy her at all.

Again, why does it matter what she's been doing really?

What she does in the future does of course matter.

chicletteeth · 15/06/2011 22:50

Ha ha nancy

chicletteeth · 15/06/2011 22:52

Yes ourplanet

Badly worded on my part. I find the media coverage annoying.

Indeed chicletteeth , I feel very very sorry for the 3 other Middletons. What ever they do, the vultures in the media will be circling. I would encourage them to try and protect Pippa and James in the same way the tried to protect Catherine, particularly the last couple of years. They are still private citizens.

I, personally, want her to find her passions. The things that really drive her then learn about them, then speak about them. Honestly, I do not think she has anything interesting to say yet. She has done nothing to deserve derision but she also has done nothing to deserve respect. At the moment I see her merely as the new bride of Prince William. And I wish her luck. I do worry when the media turn on her and they will. I hope the courtiers are preparing her.

Yellowstone · 15/06/2011 23:31

Well, allow a tiny bit of derision for having done bugger all since leaving St. A.

Badly done, Kate.

OurPlanetNeptune · 15/06/2011 23:45

Yellowstone I know that is a view many have and I can understand why. But I don't care for what she did before she became William's wife. As long she she did nothing illegal, what she did (or did not do) when she was a private citizen is of no concern to me.

ohmyfucksy · 15/06/2011 23:52

The way she is presented by the media annoys me. They only want to talk about her hair and what she wears. She must have lots of interests or hobbies they could talk about (because most people do) but they are just obsessed with how she looks. It is quite depressing.

PamBeesly · 15/06/2011 23:56

ohmyfucksy it is all about her clothes or 'her shiny locks' surely there is more value in her....I think its claptrap. The media is just redcing her to a) her body b) her heritage 3) her ability to produce an heir....disgusting its 2011
