Ok, so my facebook is restricted so that unless you are my friend all you can see is my name and profile pic.

My profile pic is one of the few where i think i look ok. (DS took it just as i got out the bath and was applying some make up)
Obviously no flabby bits and wrinkles.

anyway. I got an inbox message from a guy telling me "Ur gawjus babe x"

Now, after looking at it for a minute and translating it i replied with a simple "thank you"

He's not a bad looking fella so i took a look at his profile. he's 22 Shock
I am errm, not 22.

Within a flash he comes back with "Oh ok u wana meet up n get to know me x"

Not entirely sure of the etiquette for letting a stranger down via the internet i politely replied "As flattered as i am, I think i'm a little old for you."

to which he came back almost instantly with "Na ur not to old 4 me hun so u wana get to know me then x"

Now i have translated this as - its ok, i don;'t mind the odd granny. so do you want to meet up for some WKD's and a shag?

So, as flattering as it is to have been contacted by this good looking toy boy, I am not entirely floored by his technique.
I am sure if were his age i would be over the moon to have received such attention.

Is this really what dating is like now? a 2 minute conversation via facebook and then off to bed?

I did once laugh at a really cheeky chat up line. He came over and said "wow your eye lashes are so long" i was saying it was the mascara etc "no seriously they are really long, they are lovely. seriously close your eys i reckon they are like half an inch long" so after a bit more persuasion i closed my eyes.
and he kissed me. only a peck.

It was so ridiculously cheesy and cheeky i just thought it sweet and funny.

I am sure as a feminist i should have been mortally offended. but it was cute.

Aww that's sweet. It's a bit like the one where they ask you to settle an argument over the name of their aftershave and when you lean forward to smell it, they kiss you on the cheek lol.

Im not quite as vocal as some. I guess it is something i have found myself more drawn to now i am older. Working with women like i do it is so easy to see the misogyny of every day life, it's hard not be really.

Though i am very much a beginner. Feminist light if you like.

I know what you mean. I would never call myself a 'feminist' because I don't like to put myself in a box with a label if that makes sense.

Having said that, I'm very fair minded when it comes to work/parenting etc.

Oh i would previously denied being a feminist. I liked make up and high heels and didn't hate men. I think the Mn section has given me a lot of food for thought.

I got them all the time...mainly from Turkish men?!? Until I learned how to change my message settings so only friends of friends could contact me.

They've given me food for thought too but to be honest I just can't read the feminist section because a lot of the posters don't exactly come across as feminine at all and that's something I enjoy being.

I know that there are a few that are a bit like that, but mostly feminists are just normal women

Vicar, i thought to ignore would seem really rude. Quite why i was concerned about appearing rude to some random stranger i don't know.
I wsn't sure what to say so just went with "thanks"

I can see now that this is considered a come on in the world of random internet exchanges.
