I've quit 40 jobs, they are beneath me

This was said by 23yr old Maria Mercer who thinks she's too good to do anything. I'm utterly shocked especially in the same article there's a woman going round with a placard "please give me a job" so desperate for work when this Maria thinks she's too good to be a law clerk, hairdresser, office work ( these were her previous jobs) she's landed 39 positions.
AIBU to be in utter utter shock at this woman?

I've had to quit a couple of josb in my time, but not because I think they're beneath me! Fucking cheek of the woman!

I wonder who she thinks is is lowly enough to accept such jobs? And what job does she think she's qualified for?

All work is noble. I don't know where I heard that but it got me through some tough times wiping tables and cleaning.

I too am astonished that she has even bagged 40 jobs with what must be a terrible CV with lots of very short jobs on it!

Did you read this in Grazia? I read it last week. I don't like their editorials, they are totally Daily Mail in that their sole purpose is to make you wave your fist at the state of society. It's one idiotic person, it doesn't mean anything really.

As long as she is self-supporting, I don't care Grin! That's 40 jobs she has free-ed up for someone who does want to do them.

I want to know what her secret is landing the jobs in the first place.

If I tried to be a hairdresser I would be sacked and possibly sued on the first day for being hopeless. I have no talent for doing hair whatsoever. I could give the other jobs a fair go though.

What does she do for money? Rely on daddy for a monthly cheque?

The vast majority of people in Britain are capable of doing better jobs than we have. Most of us don't have a choice though.

Geez, that's cray. And weird too, my CV is full of six-month jobs (seasonal working) and in my most recent job search I've had lots of people querying this, I'm amazed she continues to get work after leaving so many jobs!

I have been penalised for accepting seasonal or short term contracts.

Yes the only reason I haven't succeeding in getting one is that I am a lazy bitch. Why do I read these things makes me feel worse :(.

I don't get how she managed to get all these jobs. Over the years I have taken anything I can. If there were no permanent contracts (they are becoming rarer) I take what there is. I remember being asked why I had left a job and telling them I had been only taken on as maternity leave cover and they no longer needed me once the post holder returned. The interviewer tutted and told me I had no staying power. I was as if they preferred I had stayed unemployed for those 6 months. It makes no sense.

Ive had 20 jobs (blush). Quit 17, booted out of 3. Lots were ones where i jumped ship before the end of short term 'ontracts. Lots were summer jobs at uni. Ive never lasted more than a year anywhere, i cant deal with office politics and walk away.

I've had 11, that includes summer contracts while I was a student. I guess its not too bad considering it covers 17 years and I have had 2 jobs at the same time occasionally. My shortest job was 2 months, boss decided she didn't like me during trial period and longest so far has been 4 years. Next 2 shortest were summer contracts while I was a student, the next shortest when I was let go for being 'morally repugnant' after 11 months Blush, try explaining that on your CV. Next shortest was a fixed term training contract I took after graduation, seemed sensible at the time yet you get penalised for it.

Mine were over 9 years and some only lasted a week eg sales jobs where it only took me a few shifts to realise i just cant do sales. I thought it was better to just have a shot at any job i could get at that stage. I obv dont put any of this on my cv.
