And therefore, if they are letting their kids have less than perfectly healthy food/drinks whilst out it's not a reflection of their normal diet?

This reminds me of the time I had to take ds2 to an appt. at the hospital and told my dad to get a snack for ds1 (4) at the canteen. I said "maybe a bagel or plain toast, it's very early for treats." Afterwards ds1 told me "grandad had a big donut!" :)
