Whether pole dancing was invented in Afghanistan by monks is not the question here..its basically about the fact it has been used and still is used as a form of sexual entertainment. That is what it is known for in this day and age, and no matter what anyone says..when you think about 'pole dancing' it conjures up images of women dancing provocatively in next to nothing, for the sole purpose of titillating men(and sometimes women). It is sexual, no doubt about that and I for one would feel physically sick seeing my 5 year old daughter dancing in that way. There are plenty of exercises that children can do that do not have sexual connotations, so why chose pole dancing as an option for your child when its controversial and they may get teased and picked on at school for doing so.

Also, my 5 year old daughter has no idea what pole dancing is and nor should she, so if she were to go to lessons it would be my choice, and as a parent I see that as irresponsible and slightly disturbing that a parent would chose to send their child to these lessons!

I am a parent from Northampton where these lessons are being held, I am outraged and appaulled that it is even allowed to happen. I feel its a sexualisation of children and is dangerous to society to allow this to go on. I am part of a group of parents who want to see this stopped and would appreciate any support, advice that anyone could give me regarding this matter, thanks.

This is really disgusting,it's made me feel nauseous.

My thoughts exactly lilac I don't have a 3yo DD but if I ever do I imagine her frolicking in a meadow picking wild flowers wearing a white dress and a straw hat. NOT gyrating up and down a metal pole at some sleazy salon on the high street whilst pondering what shade of orange she wants her next spray tan to be! I'm just delighted that I am not alone on that.

And you're flippity fucking welcome Fuzzpig

Ok - I an into POLE FITNESS and I can assure you there is nothing sleazy about what I do. It IS a very atheletic sport, it is amazing for toning, confidence and general fitness. I have a pole in my house as I practice a fair bit, my DS goes on it, his strength has improved and he loves climbing to the top of it and spinning round etc.

My DS has no idea about the general ideas about pole dancing, he sees nothing sleazy going on and he is quite used to me hanging upside down on it and doesnt bat an eyelid. I am very safety conscious - he knows he can never go on the pole if I am not in the room, we have a crash mat down and there really is no difference to gymnastics.

It gets on my nerves that everything pole dancing is sleazy - sometimes it is and sometimes it isnt!

Despite the widespread criticism of the lessons, Carly said she would be continuing with the class on Thursday.

She said: ?I was prepared that people might take this view. I would understand it if I was teaching girls to dance in a sexual way, but I?ve stripped back any sexual aspect. I?m only teaching them anything they can do on a fireman?s pole or a street lamp.

?I?m not sexualising anyone.

?The lessons are about exercise, having fun and letting themselves go in a safe environment.

?These people with pre-conceived ideas, looking at stereotypes, are the ones with the problem.

?I?m a good person, I?m not doing this for money-making, I?m doing it for the good of the world to make it free of stereotypes and preconceived ideas.

?We?re in a world where innocence of children is taken away, they should be able to be kids again and have fun without worrying that they are going to be judged.?

Carly added that she had received a lot of support for her classes.

Haha..totally laughable and outrageous claims!
