FriedaRoam

'One of the reasons Race for Life is so successful may be that some women feel more comfortable taking part in a women-only event. Run 10K is a very similar event and anyone can take part in that.'

www.cancerresearchuk.org/10k/

UrsulaBuffay · 12/06/2011 11:14

Oh ok I'll do that.

Fuck sake.

nailak · 12/06/2011 11:16

yabu that just because you dont enjoy them you expect charities to stop doin thins that other women feel comfortable with and raise money for their causes.

yanbu about feather boas

pumpernickel10 · 12/06/2011 11:17

I agree with the pink thing though hate the colour.

FriedaRoam · 12/06/2011 11:17

I hate hate hate ladies only events. Here in the Middle east, the Aussie and South African ladies seem to want to socialise with other ladies behind closed doors. BOOOOORING, what about the lovely men? i refuse to join in. Breastfeeding and baking are the two most boring topics known to man (or lady)

nailak · 12/06/2011 11:22

women hater ^

FriedaRoam · 12/06/2011 11:25

FriedaRoam · 12/06/2011 11:27

OP posts:
pumpernickel10 · 12/06/2011 11:29

I do know where your coming from though I hate Girly girls. I hate candles, I hate pink, I hate talking crap like that. I avoid ladies like that at my peril
It's too fluffy for me so to a degree I agree with you

pumpernickel10 · 12/06/2011 11:30

I could dress him in drag freida plus he's a lazy bastard he wouldn't run for anything ;)

SuePurblybilt · 12/06/2011 11:35

No opinion on race for life but boo to all the pampered chef/virgin/ann summers/flogging old shite parties. Or anything self-consciously girly - Ladeez day, ladeez nights, Girl's nights blah blah blah. The local pub holds 'girls' (everyone 35+) nights with Cava'n'Iceland nibbles, plays Mamma Mia or Dirty dancing and everyone gets their tits out and brings chocolate cocks. Why?

dreamingbohemian · 12/06/2011 11:36

YANBU

The worst is getting these invites: oh all the boys are going down the pub to watch footie, why don't you come round and bake cookies with us girls?

I go watch footie Grin

FriedaRoam · 12/06/2011 11:40

ROAR at " Cava'n'Iceland nibbles, plays Mamma Mia or Dirty dancing and everyone gets their tits out and brings chocolate cocks. Why?"

OP posts:
SuePurblybilt · 12/06/2011 11:42

Tis true. And half the village goes and stands at either end of the room bitching about each other.
So sad I have no evening childcare Grin

pumpernickel10 · 12/06/2011 11:50

Because freida chocolate cocks is the only bit of cock they will be getting :)

Trills · 12/06/2011 11:56

So a 10 yr old boy can do the race for life but a 12 yr old can't?

Not that I imagine they would want to.

Is it a childcare thing - they don't want women to miss out because they can't take small children, but once they are 11 they can look after themslves for a bit?

pumpernickel10 · 12/06/2011 12:00

Yes it is trill they allow children but boys under 10 as most mothers wouldn't get childcare to run the race.

FriedaRoam · 12/06/2011 12:00

why is childcare the womans issue?
surely thre is some kind of inseminator in the relationship !

OP posts:
Trills · 12/06/2011 12:10

I can't really see the organisers of the event saying "sorry, since your ex is a fuckwit and won't look after your son, you can't run".

Trills · 12/06/2011 12:10

But I also can't see teh organisers of a similar mens event taking any time at all to consider childcare...

GetOrf · 12/06/2011 12:20

Oh my GOD

Little boys can run in a laydees race because they can't organise childcare??

For fuck's sake.

I can't be doing be race for life, yes is all very well and raises money etc etc but it is such a godforsaken 'you go girlfriend' pile of arse and every workplace in the UK has some hun who organises it with the vigour of a soviet commissar, so you feel pressuredd to run the damn thing, or cough up.

And it is such a non-distance. I have run further for a bus.

dadof2littlebuggers · 12/06/2011 12:20

i'm with you on this frieda , well, from my perspective .my dad was a member of a male only 'reform club' not very reformist i know . many wives objected to it, but they said 'women are free to organise a woman only club if they want"....anyway it closed down years ago, fact is , when your socialiseing you want to have some of the opposite sex around , it's simply more fun, i cant stand guy only events , stag nights included.
