to be so annoyed that the welsh girl was thrown off the chair on Graham Norton just because she was Welsh?

Tonight a girl sat in the red chair and said her name was 'Taleri' (?). When he asked where the name was from, she said it was Welsh so she immediately threw her off. Totally silly, why is that OK but if she was someone called 'Fish' and that it was an enterwhatyouwill name and he did the same thing it's racist?

Anyone who either appears on inane chatshowes, or, come to think of it, watches them, should be disembowelled and then taking up the jacksy for having no imagination.

I'm Welsh.

moondog · 11/06/2011 08:02

Ye olde chatte showe y'see.

lesley33 · 11/06/2011 08:27

I thought he threw her off because he didn't like her name. He was going to eject her when he heard her name. When it was suggested it was a Jedi name he thought that sounded interesting so didn't eject her, but when he heard it was wasn't he ejected her.

youmeatsix · 11/06/2011 08:35

:o
did the OP think it was going to be high brow intellectual entertainment when they switched on the GN show??

shakes head

He ejected a girl called Rihanna. For being called Rihanna. Rihanna the singer was on the show and he decided there was only space for one Rihanna. So off she went. Unsophisticated, tongue-in-cheek humour. Sometimes the best kind. I'm a scouser and love Liverpool jokes. Some are brilliant.

I love Graham Norton. Some of his jokes are very witty and never more than gently acerbic. If you can't take a joke then you shouldn't laugh at any jokes really should you? There will always be someone the butt of the joke that makes you laugh.

Icelollycraving · 11/06/2011 10:01

He does it every week, that's the joke. Some guests relish being able to do it. There are many reasons why they do it,sometimes they don't even get to say their name,I think if you look to be offended by anything then you will be,although how you would get through the day is another matter.

somethingwitty82 · 11/06/2011 11:32

Its a fair cop,if he had binned someone from any non african country this would be a hate crime and discrimination.

You are suggesting that 'its just a joke' but would never say this to a Pakistani who had had their country disparaged.

I think what atosilis is complaining is that equality does not mean equal,I however am surprised she eve saw this programme, I didn't know the Welsh had electricity ;)

edam · 11/06/2011 12:44

He wouldn't dream of tipping someone off if they said their name was Rajeshri or Radhika. Not the crime of the century but a glaring double standard.

Deaddei · 11/06/2011 12:52

I love Graham Norton- am listening to him on R2 at the moment.
I'm Welsh too.
That bloody Nicole woman got on my nerves....I hate that song, so crude, and she is all little girly pink high heels and knickers showing.
I was really impressed with Tom Hanks.

lesley33 · 11/06/2011 12:56

But he didn't tip her off because her name was Welsh, so it is not comparable or a double standard!

edam · 11/06/2011 15:32

Yes he did - that's all she had the chance to say. "My name is XXXX" and then when he'd talked to Tom Hanks about Vulcan names "it's Welsh".

edam · 11/06/2011 15:35

Dead, yeah, she was really irritating. Why was she wearing something that she wasn't comfortable wearing? All that fey little girl 'ooh, I have to hold my skirt down to cover my bits when I sit or stand up' when she CHOSE to wear that outfit and was singing a suggestive number. Either do sexy or don't do sexy, don't do sexy and then act coy!

corsilk · 11/06/2011 15:36

she looked bandy legged as well

LeonardNimoy · 11/06/2011 15:42

You're right,OP, it was totally unacceptable behaviour. I think you should write in and complain

mommmmyof2 · 11/06/2011 15:46

I do cringe for the people he does that to, I have seen him do it before someone has even opened their mouths! can be embarresing for the person but then they know what might happen before they go on it.He just like that in general I think Grin

onagar · 11/06/2011 16:03

I think you should write in and complain. Maybe they will be able to explain the joke that you're still not getting with diagrams and crayons.

LeonardNimoy · 11/06/2011 16:14

I would like to make it clear to the OP that I was joking...
