to be so annoyed that the welsh girl was thrown off the chair on Graham Norton just because she was Welsh?

Tonight a girl sat in the red chair and said her name was 'Taleri' (?). When he asked where the name was from, she said it was Welsh so she immediately threw her off. Totally silly, why is that OK but if she was someone called 'Fish' and that it was an enterwhatyouwill name and he did the same thing it's racist?

Oh, I thought Simon Pegg said Balkan not Vulcan Blush

MollysChamber · 11/06/2011 00:09

I'm Scottish. If she had been Scottish and the conversation had gone in exactly the same way I would not have been remotely offended. I think you're reading way too much into it tbh.

atosilis · 11/06/2011 00:10

Thanks Molly, I'll chill a tad

corsilk · 11/06/2011 00:10

Is that why Tom Hanks did the Vulcan hand thing at the end?

atosilis · 11/06/2011 00:11

They were talking Star Wars throughout

Yeah, he hates Irish jokes but is perfectly happy to act out the same discrimination against another minority community. Fuckwit.

skrumle · 11/06/2011 00:12

i think he thought her name was poncey, and when she didn't go along with the vulcan joke she then got chucked off - hardly racist!

atosilis · 11/06/2011 00:12

No, that is why he will be embarrassed

chipmonkey · 11/06/2011 00:38

It's hardly discrimination to get knocked off the chair though. People of all nationalities get knocked off the chair.
Atolisis, what do you mean, he will be embarrassed?

atosilis · 11/06/2011 00:40

Because he kicked some pleasant girl off on the grounds that she was welsh

OP posts:
MollysChamber · 11/06/2011 00:42

Nope, on the grounds that she wasn't Vulcan.

atosilis · 11/06/2011 00:43

I'd just like to see the response with any other name/race/culture. Would he do that with an Indian/Arabic/African/etc etc .....

OP posts:
MollysChamber · 11/06/2011 00:44

Um, probably yes.

atosilis · 11/06/2011 00:45

Chip, not on the grounds of their name

atosilis · 11/06/2011 00:49

No Molly, the whole BBC legal dept would be round his neck

OP posts:
atosilis · 11/06/2011 00:52

Anne Robinson got screwed for saying she would put the Welsh into Room 101 and the BBC were bolloxed for that, sorry, sorry, won't do it again.

MollysChamber · 11/06/2011 00:56

Think you need to stop watching Graham.

Bit of drama seems to be more your thing.

CurrySpice · 11/06/2011 01:03

Every time I go to wales on business I get 6000 approx anti-English jokes. Should I start a thread about it!?

atosilis · 11/06/2011 01:23

Chilled - no more comments. Curry, your jokes are not on BBC which is so 'right on', massive anti-anything.

OP posts:
atosilis · 11/06/2011 01:24

and i do appreciate I said 'no more comments'

CurrySpice · 11/06/2011 06:45

CogitoErgoSometimes · 11/06/2011 07:26

Yes, she got tipped out of the chair for being welsh. Others get tipped out for having a boring name, a boring job, a boring story, or sometimes they don't even get to open their mouths and are tipped simply on how they look. That's the joke.... for what ridiculous reason will Graham get bored with the bozo daft enough to sit in the chair in the first place? If you want to turn it into racism, OK. But it's still funny.
