to think that Pret a Manger's tuna nicoise sandwich is a bit, well, wrong?

Now don't get me wrong, I love Pret. I like the food and the staff and ignore the fact that they're partly owned by McDonalds BUT tuna nicoise is a fecking salad! It doesn't belong between two slices of bread.

Yes Cyb but has to be snaffled, a victory fish finger is somehow nicer than a discarded in favour of the beans, fish finger Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/06/2011 15:26

Honey, I'm afraid I didn't examine it for long enough to see if there were green beans. If there were, though, that'd be even weirder. And I have to admit, I don't mind the idea of potato salad on a jacket potato!

Lucy, lasagne sarnies = soggy reddish-brown bread =

Weirdo

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/06/2011 15:32

How do you feel about crisp sandwiches, Honey? Or potato on pizza?

I say bring on the starch, and layer it Grin

I would, and do, have coleslaw on sandwiches, it goes perfectly.

My own comfort eat is a cabbage and mash butty :)

TheSkiingGardener · 10/06/2011 15:38

Spaghetti bolognese sandwiches are the best. With lots of butter

lynniep · 10/06/2011 15:38

LAKSA SARNIE

To be fair they've removed the 'soup' element lol, but that kind of removes the joy of laksa - unless you buy some laksa without the 'bits' and dip your sarnie...

Pumpernickel10 · 10/06/2011 15:42

Crisp sarnies are to die for, especially salt and vinegar with a chunk of strong cheese, I am not very hungry

Honeydragon · 10/06/2011 15:44

Potato on bread ....fine

bread in bread .....WEIRD

Potato as a topping for Potato ......REALLY FUCKING WEIRD!

Now Stop it! Grin

Pumpernickel10 · 10/06/2011 15:46

I have even been know to put mash potato on bread and dip it into gravy, what a sicko I am

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 10/06/2011 15:47

Nothing wrong with coleslaw in a sandwich, that was my lunch. Salami and coleslaw to be precise

cybbo · 10/06/2011 16:02

Crisp sandwiches are my favourite of all time

soft white bread

Loads of butter

LaurieFairyCake · 10/06/2011 16:06

cheese and onion crisp sandwiches

proper salted butter

cheapish white bread - no fancy ciabatta nonsense but no 7p loaf either

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/06/2011 16:15

I don't believe in buttering the bread for a crisp sandwich.

But then I also believe that you MUST NOT butter the bread for a bacon sarnie.

The Paul Simon somng "Mother and Child Reunion" got its title from a restaurant dish containing chicken and eggs...

GwendolineMaryLacey · 10/06/2011 16:18

You have to butter the (white) bread for a bacon sarnie, you just have to.

Shepherd's pie sandwich and supernoodle sandwich are amongst my favourites. Am now wondering how I can ignore tonight's chicken dinner in favour of a fishfinger sandwich...

squeakytoy · 10/06/2011 16:19

Bread in a sandwich, fine.... if it is bacon, egg and fried slice. :)

ReindeerBollocks · 10/06/2011 16:20

I love coleslaw sandwiches with ham.. Maybe it's a Manchester thing?

I second Gwendoline bacon butties must be buttered and with ketchup.

ReindeerBollocks · 10/06/2011 16:21

Fish fingers sandwiches are sold in a few places round here too.

Yum.

squeakytoy · 10/06/2011 16:22

I am originally from Manchester, so you could be right there. :)

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/06/2011 16:24

No, no, no. No butter in a bacon sarnie. Ever.

A bacon sarnie is all about the pure and beautifully satisfying contrast of the soft, slightly chewy, bland white bread and the salty, crispy, savoury bacon. Nothing else is required.

Squeaky toy - cabbage and mash sandwiches after sunday lunch are the best.

I thought my parents were weird as no-one else had ever heard of them.

K999 · 10/06/2011 16:27

I love a salad cream sandwich....

squeakytoy · 10/06/2011 16:27

Oh, you cant have a bacon butty without butter... thats the best bit of it, the combination of greasiness :)

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/06/2011 16:28

No, the butter greasiness just cancels out the bacon greasiness.
