I am getting seriously fed up.

OP posts:
JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 07/06/2011 14:04

I refuse to stop using lol.

Cattleprod · 07/06/2011 14:06

The txt generation is reaching childbearing age. That's why you are noticing it more and more. I find the kisses and putting names at the bottom of posts more annoying tbh. Like they are writing a letter instead of posting on a discussion board.

its probably inflated ego and need to assert self as not new.by differentiating others as certain new.implication is op considers her self to be someone not new or someone significant

when really it doesn't matter who is whom, since id rather read an interesting post with colloquialisms than a dull with appropriate syntax post

if a post is broadly understandable, no problemo

GetOrf · 07/06/2011 14:08

Got no problem with lol etc, I have been a MNer and used lol ever since I have been here, if it annoys people I don't really care.

Bit I do hate it when people use text speak. But come on, the most prolific poster at one point was barely understandable in her typing.

If I open a thread and it is patently written by a thicko I just close it and ignore it. Let the huns talk to each other and leave them in peace.

AccioPinotGrigio · 07/06/2011 14:14

"dear certain new posters". You see to me that sounds picky and bitchy which in my personal book of niggles is somewhat worse than using the term 'hun'.

There are no rules and yet there is always someone on this forum trying to tell us what the bloody rules are or what the etiquette is. Bollocks to that. Who was it that said 'live by your own rules or be enslaved by another (wo)man's or words to that effect.

Anyway, I assume you are being slightly Tongue in cheek so hugs yeah babe lol.

scottishmummy · 07/06/2011 14:16

its a bitty hissy missy to dictate how others post
but hay maybe op aint gettin none,so whateva

Wabbit · 07/06/2011 14:16

Ironical - awwww bless! Grin

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 07/06/2011 14:18

yes LieInsAreRarerThanTigers, but at least 'fuck' is a word Wink

EricNorthmansMistress · 07/06/2011 14:55

My friend Jenna's apples

Jenna owns the apples, so the apostrophe indicates that the apples belong to her. If it was Jennas it would mean more than one Jenna. Jennas' is like Jenna's but indicates the apples belong to several Jennas, as you couldn't write Jennas's.

Lorenz · 07/06/2011 14:56

soz 'ard

rachyaimeelou · 07/06/2011 22:24

obviously talking about me then lol

livetolaugh · 07/06/2011 23:08

I don't mind it. I hate the snobbery surrounding it as well. People join this forum from all walks of life . This is what's good about it. Why would you want to ban that? Is it not good to get all points of view across regardless how they put it down. Just because you don't agree with it, doesn't make it wrong. Its like banning someone from saying 'aye' instead of 'yes' in my opinion

scottishmummy · 07/06/2011 23:20

hate the its not cricket, its just not mn
how dare anyone not be just like lil ole whatsherface who doesn't do any lil', 'hugz', 'hon' / 'hun', 'bless', or any form of text speak,or smiling or chewing or laughing in a built up area

she may smile at a malapropism though

HorseWhisperer · 07/06/2011 23:35

I don't use 'text speak' not even when I am texting BUT each to their own. If a poster feels comfortable expressing themselves in that style then so what? If it bugs me I hide the thread.

"..any form of text speak. It is not welcome here". Seriously? OP, get over yourself. Who are you to tell anyone what is welcome or not.

So, yes YABU.
