I would kill him.

I would.

I am not a violent person. I have never hit someone in my entire life. But, by Christ.... I believe that someone who is capable of rape. Rape of an innocent, indefensible small child.... I'm currently cuddling my nearly 2YO to sleep right now and I swear to god, I would kill anyone who touched her.

He doesn't deserve to have his 'human rights' considered. He hasn't acted like a human being.

Well, AIBU?

Because I will go to my grave thinking that I am not.

PS Nightnurse - I feel so reassured that people like you are in the caring professions. Always makes me feel I'm in good hands when in hospital.

PS what the fuck is co-mormid??? I presume you mean comorbid & therefore have a recognisable psychiatric illness in which their tendencies are a symptom?

Obviously, everyone else who molests children is in completely sound mind & presumably evil & therefore requires extermination.

spiderslegs · 08/06/2011 02:33

Yep - well spotted typo , they are indeed paedophiles.

suburbophobe · 08/06/2011 02:35

I hope he "gets done" while inside.....

Why is it that criminals like him have more rights than the victims?????!!!!
Crazy world we live in!!

TheNightNurse · 08/06/2011 02:53

Spiderslegs: Hopefully you won't end up in a hospital like mine.

P.S. Spiderlegs! - I mean comormid (yep, you're right!) as in having two disorders occurring at the same time but that aren't related.

Not really sure why you're having a go, to be honest. As I said before, I don't think anyone who molests children is of sound mind but I also do not think child molestation is an 'illness' that can be treated and cured.
I wonder how many people here would test their theory that rehab 'works' by letting a prolific paedophile move in next door...

Maybe he was also buggered as a child, and maybe he wasn't. What if he wasn't? What if he is just a sick bastard? Does that change the way we should deal with him?

Either way, as with pretty much every other bloody violent crime against women and children, the fuckers get let off too lightly. The Colin Hatch story is a case in hand - the professionals warned he would likely escalate to murder and he was STILL let out. The bloke who threatened to kill his wife with a knife in Bristol (a link on the murdered woman and 2yo thread from Dittany) has been given a suspended sentence - i.e. is free to roam the streets, find her again and kill her this time.

But if you steal some money, you're banged up for years. Doesn't make sense, does it - prioritising money and goods over the damage done to women and children short of murdering them - and by the time they're murdered, it's a bit bloody late to bang the bastards up (although obviously still absolutely necessary).

This 20yo - he should go to Broadmoor. Or, they should start a unit specifically for child rapists - and leave them to rot in there. Seriously. Rehab is a very sick joke - they play the system until they're let out and they're off again.

This is the second thread I have had to display some extremely unforgiving opinions on - but there IS no forgiveness for these bastards, whatever the reason.

And quite frankly, if he was buggered himself, then it makes him worse that he would perpetuate the same crime against other tiny defenceless children, when he knows how shit and scary it is.

spiderslegs · 08/06/2011 09:44

My point is, whatever their crimes, we should still treat offenders as human beings. It's part of what constitues a civilised society.

These are clearly very disturbed individuals we're talking about, it's highly unlikely in most cases they can be rehabilitated, in which case they should be removed from society so they can do no more harm.

But ranting rabidly that they should be shot & adopting a lynch mob mentality isn't going to make the world a better or safer place.

I think it diminishes us all.

GypsyMoth · 08/06/2011 09:51

spiderslegs.......its never going to happen here, its just people sounding off about it,how they feel

montmartre · 08/06/2011 10:32

thumbwitch- there are already units for child rapists.

If (big if) he was abused as a child himself, then it would have warped what he sees as normal sexual behaviour. We have no information about his childhood to make that call.

Tiffany (tried to post last night but phone died) - the police are restricted by the law just as citizens are, they cannot act against it even when it may do more harm than breaking it. I am sorry you were put in the position where you had to make these decisions, it is very difficult, and such a shame that police forces lose good officers when they are clearly needed.

maras- the internet is what has made it easy for him to offend. 100 years ago how on earth would he have found victims other than face-to-face when they would not have been fooled by him. As joolyjj said- in past times people like this would not have been able to meet other like minded people, and their circle of influence been much smaller.

thumbwitch · 08/06/2011 10:34

Yes but they still have keys to those units, don't they? So the offenders are still allowed out again, aren't they? Throwing the keys away would be a good start.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 08/06/2011 15:57

spiderlegs- you yourself call him an "irreparably damaged human being", so we are in total agreement.

My point about his base urges was NOT that I believe all men to have these urges, but rather that some people (eg, as you said, men who have previously been an abused child) will have a warped sexuality, but not all of them will go on to act on it

takethisonehereforastart · 08/06/2011 17:23

cantspel I agree 100% with you in this:

"He is a pedophile and you cannot change a persons sexual orientation so he is always going to be a danger to our children.
He cannot be rehabilitated so he needs locking away for the rest of his natural life."

FellatioNelson · 08/06/2011 22:34

I know that most seriously deviant people usually have a background of abuse and dysfunction in their own childhoods, and I know I am supposed to be compassionate and to want to work towards rehabilitating the worst sort of paedophiles and cowardly sadistic murderers, on the basis that they at some point were probably victims too. I know that.

But I do sometimes think the only way to cure much of the evil, inexplicable wickedness and deeply disturbing fucked up head sickness that goes on in the world is to kill it, once and for all. Just kill it. It's all about damage limitation. Don't cry over spilt milk. Deal with it and move on. There are certain people for whom any attempt at rehabilitation is too risky, and we should just cut our losses and eradicate them.

GypsyMoth · 08/06/2011 22:37

we cant do that....so next best thing is to keep them locked away til they die,or are murdered ...and hope and pray they never got the chance to reproduce
